Field Trip Permission slips
1.) Pewaukee Public Library Visit --Tuesday, June 2nd from 12:15 pm to 1:15pm (No cost)
In order to encourage reading over the summer, our class will be taking a walking field trip to the Pewaukee Public Library. The children's librarian will have a set of books out on display for "Great Summer Reads". Students will also participate in a scavenger hunt to help them get more familiar with the parts of the library. Students are encouraged to bring their library card (if they have one) to the library. They will be allowed to check out 1-2 books (no videos, DVDs or books on tape). IF your child does not have a library card, they won't be able to apply for one when we go. We'd strongly encourage you to take your child prior to Tuesday, 6/2 to sign up for a card. (Parents/guardians need to be present to sign with minors that are applying for a card.)
For this field trip, we can take several chaperones with us. Please let me know if you would be interested.
2.) Village Park, end-of-the-year fourth grade picnic---Thursday, June 4th from 11:10-3:00pm (No cost)
We will be walking down to Village Park for a picnic lunch and activities. Students need a bag lunch and drink for this trip. Parents are welcome to meet us at the park, or just stop by on your lunch hour to say "Hi" and hang out for a bit.
We need assistance in several areas for this trip. We'd like to have a number of parents walk with us as we head down to the park. We need several parents that could stay for the whole time and help to supervise areas where the students will be playing. We are looking for several parents that would be willing to donate bottles of water. Finally, we need some parents that have large coolers they could fill with ice and bring down to the park for us.
On the bottom of the permission slip area areas where you can check a place where you can help us out. Please email or call if you have any questions. Thanks!
Swan/Pal/Reis T-shirt orders- Many of our students have ordered their SPR end of the year t-shirts. If you have not sent in your order and $7.50 per shirt you can still send it in.
Fifth grade music selections-
Ms. Mitchell spoke to fourth graders during the 5th grade band concert rehearsal to let them know that Music department teachers will be going over choices for Music courses for 5th grade soon. Fifth graders get to choose from Band, Choir, or General Music (which is the style of class they attend now). For those students wanting to take Band in 5th grade, they will be selecting three instruments they are interested in to try out. The Music teachers will help them to decide which one will be the best fit. Staff will have information to go home about instruments, rentals, etc. I will share more details when I have them. :-)
Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 30th! Sixth graders have got something awesome planned.
Dear Pewaukee friends,
ALS is a disease that attacks the muscles. Today, 30,000 people are diagnosed with ALS. Trickett Wendler, a mom of three students in the district, recently passed away from this disease. If you would like to see her story, it can be found on YouTube at "ALS 2014 Trickett's Story."
Students at Horizon are holding a fundraiser for ALS on Saturday, May 30th from 9:30 until 2:00pm. There will be arts & crafts, games, raffle items, henna art, basketball contest, baked goods/pizza and the big event -- A SCAVENGER HUNT through the Village of Pewaukee (to search for clues about ALS).
To join in the fun, check out the flyer your child is bringing home. Details on how to register and more about the event are there. If you have any questions you can contact Mrs. Farrow.
Dismissal, leaving early, etc.
As we approach the final stretch of the year, there are many schedule changes that will be happening each day with different events and activities. Please be sure to let me or the office know if your child is going to be leaving for an appointment, leaving early, or taking a different route home. Thank you.
Food Service Reminder
As we come to the end of another school year, please be sure to keep an eye on your child's lunch account balance so it does not fall into the negative. As of Tuesday, May 26th, no purchases of any kind will be allowed if that brings your account into the negative.
Please calculate how much money your child will need in his/her account to last until Thursday, June 4th. Any money remaining in your account will carry over to next school year. Checks can be made out to Pewaukee Schools Food Service. Remember, you can check your lunch account at any time through Family Access.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation!
