KERBY UPDATES
August 20, 2019
WELCOME MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
I am very happy to welcome you back to a new school year at Kerby Elementary School! If you are new to Kerby, welcome! I look forward to getting to know you. I hope you enjoyed your summer and look forward to returning to school ready to learn and grow.
This summer was not only a time to Sharpen the Saw for our Kerby staff, but it was also a time for continued learning and growth. Our new staff members participated in the 7 Habits training so that they can experience a seamless integration into our culture of leadership with the Leader in Me. Grosse Pointe principals participated in the 7 Habits for Families training. I look forward to sharing that knowledge with the Kerby families throughout the school year. Additionally, Kerby Teachers participated in a book study. We read the book “The Innovator’s Mindset” by George Couros. While it is a book about education, it also addresses many topics about innovation and growth that would be of interest to parents as well.
I look forward to an AMAZING school year at Kerby Elementary!
Sincerely,
Dr. Delgado

DROP OFF AND PICK UP
Drop off and pick up procedures will remain the same as last year. We will still have the drop off and line up spots on the blacktop behind the school for all students K-5. K-2 students will line up outside the lower wing entry doors and 3-5 students will line up outside the upper wing entry doors. Also, beginning at 8:10, we will have adult supervision in the front of the building by the flagpole on Kerby Road. In order to alleviate traffic on Beaupre, we encourage you to utilize both drop off areas, the one on Beaupre as well as the one on Kerby. Please do not drop off your children earlier than 8:10 unless they are attending kids club, as there is no adult supervision provided by the school before that time. Remember that there is no parking in the Kerby cutout on Kerby Rd. between the hours of 8-9 and 3-4, and it can be used for drop off only. For the safety of the students, the Kerby parking lot is for staff only.
