Nordic mythology is the body of mythology of the people of Northern Germany coming from Norse paganism and continued after the Christianization of Scandinavia and into Scandinavian modern period. The major elements are the creation legend, some Norse gods and their legends.

Nordic mythology influenced some of the dwarves names and most importantly Gandalf was based off a Nordic deity from Nordic mythology named Odin. Odin is an old man with one eye, a long white beard, a wide brimmed hat, and a staff.
