Opening Up!
Thank you all who made this another AWESOME and FUN week at RHHS!! We just finished up our 2nd DRESS up week in a row which was concluded by some costume fun on Thursday before the student break. One of the things that people always asked me last year was what would make this a successful start to the year and after the first year how would you measure the success of RHHS? The answer then and now has remained the same. If at the end of this year, all our students who chose to come over last year say it was the best the decision they ever made, we will have done our job.
Make no mistake we want ALL our students to have a GREAT experience at Rock Hill, but those kids and families who trusted us to leave an exceptional, well established school like PHS and take an unknown risk with us on "The Hill" I have a personal obligation to make sure everything about RHHS is all they hoped and dreamed for. With that being said, I firmly believe that kids just do better in school if they can have some FUN while they are here. High School is one of the BEST times in our lives and when our kids look back on their short time here I want them to think "Man, I miss those days" instead of "Man, I was sure glad to get out of there!" That's why we are constantly looking for ways we can make school a little more enjoyable each and every day. Yes, we know we won't always hit a homerun with that but we can sure try!!
I do hope your student has had a GREAT time so far at RHHS, built some positive relationships with staff and other students, learned a little :) and had some FUN along the way. I know I say it each week but if we ever fall short of your expectations please let me know so we can do what we need to improve!
Have a great weekend and please reach out if there is anything I can do to help! GO ROCK!!

Tips for Staying Healthy at School
10/22***Please see the new announcement from Dr. Bradley on the adjustment on the PISD definition of a close contact at school. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLAKN4Yg4iw
Avoid close contact with anyone- close contact = closer than 6 feet (about 2 arms’ length) for more than 15 minutes. We make allowances at school for people wearing masks- but still please keep your distance- 3 feet minimum to help prevent the spread of coronavirus.
*Tip-- If you can reach you arm out fully extended and touch the other person- you are too close.
Wear your mask at all times in public- covering your nose and mouth fully
Avoid touching your mask, face, mouth, nose and eyes
Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands
Please stay home when you are sick!
Please check the Daily online self-screener before coming to school or any PISD activities- if you answer yes to any of the questions, please stay home and respond to the screener. Click Rock Hill, answer the questions and submit. I will call you and discuss before you can come to campus.

What are your goals for this year?
"My goals for this year are to better myself, complete my high school education, and to enjoy my final year at home before going off to college."
What does Rock Hill football mean to you?

Teacher Spotlight: Yoshara Ballou, Ed.D.
Why did you choose to come to Rock Hill?
"I chose to come to Rock Hill because I was offered the opportunity to teach Forensic Science and be the pioneer teacher for Principles of Biomedical Science, which is part of the Project Lead the Way Program. This is the first year of the program and I am excited for all of the creative and hands-on experiences that my students are receiving."
What does it mean to be part of the Rock Hill community?
"To me, the Rock Hill community is a family. Everyday during the announcements, Principal Toth always says that we are a family, and the Rock Hill community truly is a family. We encourage and support one another, in addition to serving our students and community. "
What goals do you have for yourself, the students, and the school this year?
"This year, I plan to grow the Forensics and Biomedical Programs, to where all students in the school hear about these classes and are interested in enrolling in the years to come. I want my students to use my courses as a platform and a foundation as they think about their future career choices."
What do you look forward to the most during football season?
"I look forward to bringing my 2 year old daughter, Jhordyn, to the football games. I want her to get used to being part of the excitement and the thrill of cheering on the football team. She loves watching the blow-up blue hawk and each time the blue hawk was featured on the football screen."

What is PISD Graduation Celebration?
Over 14 years ago, a group of Prosper High School parent volunteers created a
non-profit, PHS – Project Graduation. The goal was to follow the national charter,
which promotes drug and alcohol alternatives for students on the night of their
high school graduation. The event was typically at a venue in Frisco, started at
11pm on the night of graduation, and concluded at 5am the following morning.
Tickets were sold for the event to cover both the cost of the venue and to
purchase prizes for the seniors. Ticket prices have varied over the years from $50
to $150, depending on the class size and the price of the venue.
With the addition of a second high school and the growth of Prosper ISD, the
name and vision of Project Graduation had to evolve. Moving forward, Project
Graduation will be called Prosper ISD Graduation Celebration. The focus will be
to educate students on the dangers of drug and alcohol use while creating an
event for all PISD seniors.
Graduation Celebration will be held on May 19 at the Children’s Health Stadium,
6pm – 12am. The event will be FREE to all PISD seniors. There will be food,
inflatables, games, movie, a surprise from the senior parents, and gifts. In order for
this to be a memorable celebration for the 1,011 seniors in PISD, we need to raise
$100,000. We will also be accepting in kind donations as we get closer to the
event. There are many opportunities to volunteer, as a senior parent, business
owner, or community member.
Information regarding the Celebration will be updated for both PHS and RHHS
via the 2021 Senior pages on the ISD website, the Parent Facebook pages,
Principal Newsletters and the PISD Express. Feel free to reach out to any board
member for Prosper ISD Graduation Celebration. Together we can make a
special memory for PISD seniors!
Parent and Guardians,
We are so excited to be a part of the opening of Rock Hill High School and laying the foundation for the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). July started with a great boost with an amazing membership drive. As parents and guardians, we believe that we all have similar goals. We want our children and the students attending Rock Hill to laugh, to be challenged, to be entertained and to feel the support of those around them. PTO is here with the students and teachers in mind. Every decision PTO makes is with the focus of each and every student and teacher. We encourage you to join the PTO and stay connected with all upcoming PTO sponsored events.
Should you have any questions, comments or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to use via email at rockhillhighpto@gmail.com.
