Literacy Initiative - Full Day Kindergarten Update
Kelly Rosario, Director of Curriculum, INstruction and Professional Development, gave this update on how students were performing who started in our first full day kindergarten program and who are now starting 3rd grade. The positive results show that there are far less students in need of intervention by the time they reach 3rd grade than in prior years and that Parkland is closing the literacy gap for learning support students as well.
Foundation report - 1st Tailgate event was a great success on Sept 27th. Harlem Wizards are coming to Parkland on Nov. 21. Get tickets at www.harlemwizards.com. The MG car will be raffled off at halftime. Get tickets through game day!
The Board remarked that they were thankful for the redistricting work that Dr. Troutman has done and for his thorough presentation. They were happy to hear Mrs. Rosario's report on full day kindergarten. The PHS fall play MUSEUM was a hit in the Black Box Theatre.
