Delirium
This story is about 17 year old girl Lena Haloway who lives in a communist-like society where its citizens' lives are planned out for them at the age of 18. They are “cured” which means they are assigned their job, spouse and number of kids. One day Lena sees a cute and supposedly cured boy, Alex, wink at her from his balcony. Lena and her friend, Hana, get into a fight when Lena finds out Hana is going to parties with boys and girls because it is against the law. Eventually, Lena changes her mind and goes to a party one night and runs into Alex again. They hangout for a while, until Lena realizes Alex isn’t actually cured so she leaves him. A different night, Hana attends another party alone. Lena finds out that Regulators are on their way to raid that party and hurries there to save Hana but it's too late.When a dog attacks Lena, Alex is there to save her and they make up. After a night of Alex and Lena sneaking into the woods, they realize they want to run away together. Will Alex be able to rescue Lena and finally run away together? This book is about a young girl, America, who lives in a society that is divided into eight castes that are based on your economic and social status. With one being the best and 8 the worst, she is a part of 5, which means she is an "entertainer". The story starts with Prince Maxon hosting a competition called the Selection to see who will become his princess and therefore bride. America's mom forces her to enter the competition because while entered in it, they will provide money towards the competitors families. America is reluctant to enter the competition because unaware to her mother she was dating a boy named Aspen, who was a 6. When they get in a fight one night, America's name is drawn to be entered in the Selection. Although when she first meets the prince she doesn't like him, she eventually starts to fall for him. One day, America sees Aspen working in the palace and realizes she still loves him, even though it is illegal to be in a relationship while in the Selection. Also, there is a rebellion going on against the Castle which brings more complications. Will America pick her first love and face treason, or her new love interest and be wealthy? Throughout the story, Adam and Juliette fall in love due to the fact that he can touch her without her talent working on him and realized that he was her childhood friend. They decide to run away together while Warner is on the hunt for them. While they were momentarily split, Juliette was captured by Warner as he confessed his love for her. She steals his gun, shoots him, finds Adam, and they escape while joining the Rebellion against the Reestablishment. Will they make it out past Warner or will the Rebellion backfire?
