Long Island, Bahamas

Tyler Heffernan's Dream Vacation

Long Island Facts

Dream vacation is in Long Island, Bahamas. It is located at 23, -75 on the map. I want to visit here because of Dean's Blue Hole and the water. My destination is so amazing because of the coral reefs, beaches, friendly islanders, and Dean's Blue Hole.

Some interesting facts about the Bahamas are:

Long Island is a long, thin island island in the Bahamas with pink sand from crushed seashells. Due to its nearness to the elements it is volmrable to hurricanes; one of the reasons it has no poisonous snakes. Because of its pink sands, some scenes from the movie Pirates of the Caribbean were filmed here. Some national animals are the flamingo and marlin. If you want to pay here you may use the Bahamian dollar. The deepest blue hole in the world, Dean's Blue Hole, is found here. The national sport is sloop sailing.

It will take me seven hours and 15 minutes to get to my destination from Conroe, Texas. It is 1,346 miles, as the crow flies, from Conroe. I will take my family with me, so I will be bringing five people, including me. We will get there by taking a plane. I am planning on staying for six nights.

I will stay at Gems at Paradise Hotel and Resort during my stay. It has a private beach and it will be $130 dollar a night, or $780 for our whole week. We will all need to pack swimsuits, sunglasses, toiletries, extra clothes, and flip flops!

In total my trip will cost about $7,450. My lodging will cost $780 in total. I have decided to bring $500 for spending money. On average, all food will cost $1,100. To rent a car big enough for my entire family it will cost about $600. For five round trip plane tickets, in standard class, it will cost $3,566. All of our gas for the week will cost about $100. If we want to rent a boat for the week it will cost an average of $500.

While in the Bahamas, I hope to snorkel, scuba dive, go to the beach, go boating, shop, and visit Dean's Blue Hole. There are millions of things to do in the Bahamas, like the things listed above. A very unique opportunity in the Bahamas is Dean's Blue Hole. Dean's Blue Hole is the deepest known blue hole in the world. You can free dive and scuba dive here.
