More on Number Sense at Home
Lauren Walton, Mathematics Coach
Our hope for our children is for them to work flexibly and efficiently with numbers. Having a solid number sense helps our children develop confidence and comfortability when faced with challenges. They are more likely to try various strategies, work through problems, and experience less frustration in math.
You can help your children build their number sense by playing simple games with no materials necessary! So far we have looked at What’s the Question? Who Am I? And Which Number Does Not Belong?
This week’s Number Sense at Home game is called Which Number Does Not Belong?
Which Has More?: A great mental math activity that gets kids to compare several quantities at the same time. Ex. Which has more, the number of wheels on two cars or the number of eggs in a dozen?
This is a wonderful way for students to practice their mental math strategies and see math in the world around them!
Try it out and let us know how it goes at lwalton33@framingham.k12.ma.us ! We’d love to hear how you’re practicing Number Sense at home.
Please join Dr. Tremblay and Ms. Judy Styer for an Information Session to understand the Panorama Data and to learn more about the 2018-2019 Survey
WHEN: Tuesday, March 5th, 6:30-8 pm
WHERE: Woodrow Wilson Cafetorium, 169 Leland Street

valentine's day
In keeping with the Framingham Public Schools wellness practices, Dunning School continues to be committed to safe and healthy school programs for all of our students. At this time we ask for your continued assistance in supporting our practice of providing students with fun, non-food celebrations. Valentine’s Day is a wonderful opportunity for students to let their friends know that they are thinking of them with a note or card. We do not allow students to bring in food treats to share with other children to ensure the safety and health of our students. Please do not send in Valentine's Day cards with candy attached.
Thank you for your help with this.

CARE & SHARE
The Jane Shapiro Care and Share began in 1995 as a Dunning School community service project. Each month a specific food item is collected at the school to help keep A Place to Turn's shelves stocked. What a great sharing and learning project! Donations are gathered up by the students and then with help from staff, they are delivered to A Place to Turn. Learn more about A Place to Turn here.
Thank you for your contributions to A Place to Turn during the year. Our monthly food collection makes a huge difference in our community, while teaching our students the importance of giving.
