3rd Grade - Week 7 10/10/15
MATH - We focused on rounding to the nearest 10. Morning work included work on place value, rounding, odd/even numbers and word problems.
READING - Our work was about fix-up strategies we use when we read and come across unknown or difficult words. The children worked on prefixes and suffixes mainly.
SCIENCE - We concluded our science unit by learning about the sun and how shadows are formed.
MATH: This week we will be rounding numbers to 100 and using estimating to help solve problems.
READING: Our main focus this week is context clues when we read, synonyms, and antonyms. These will all help the children when they read in order to understand.
SOCIAL STUDIES: We will be starting Social Studies again this week. We begin by looking at how communities change over time.
** Homework - Please sign your child's agenda on a daily basis to show that your child has completed that night's homework. I expect homework to be turned in on time. Every Monday we write all the homework in our agenda so we know when it is due in. Also, please try and let your child do the homework by themselves, but then check it over with them. We go through homework every day so the children are aware of how they should answer the questions.
We only had a handful of box tops turned in this time. Please save them and send them in at any time.
