PreK

This week in Pre-KB we are learning; the letter Z, reviewing numbers (1-20), reviewing basic colors, reviewing basic shapes and 3D shapes, working on sight words, working on rhyming, and compound words. The countdown begins, we only have 18 days of school left. Let’s have a GREAT week!!! -Ms. Bateman

This week our theme is insects. We will learn how to identify insects and discover some other interesting facts. We are focusing on letter Zz, reviewing numbers, and practicing rhyming and beginning sounds.

This week in Pre-K C we are learning about the letter Z. We are also learning how to subtract. Ms. Ingroum

Kindergarten

Please remember to send a water bottle with your child daily. In ELA, we are introducing the second sounds for the consonants "c" and "g." They have a soft and hard sound; so, we will be studying words like nice and huge. Also, we will continue learning about writing about our opinions and multiple meaning words, such as ship, whistle, and brush. Please continue practicing letters and letter sounds and sight words. In math we will continue with learning about money (identifying coins and their value). In science we will be reviewing plant and animal characteristics and the parts of a plant. In social studies we will be learning about community helpers. We hope you have a great week. As always please feel free to contact your child's teacher for comments, questions or concerns.

1st Grade

In English we are learning about contractions and comparative adjectives.

In Math we will be learning about coins and money. In Science we are looking at life cycles and in Social Studies we will have a review.-First Grade Team

2nd Grade

-This week we will be spelling words with suffixes. We will be going over the theme, story structure, and making predictions while we read. We will review open and closed syllables. Please remind students to read for at least 20 minutes each day. -Ms. Brown

We will be finishing up our last topic over money and financial literacy this week. We will have our test on Friday. We will then move into review work. Please make sure that your child continues to log onto zoom every day on time. It is extremely important. Let’s finish this year off strong. -Ms. Lester

his week students will continue our unit on Biological Evolution. We will be studying butterfly and grasshopper life cycles. Please check dojo regularly and make sure students are completing all assignments with a 70 or higher. Be sure to watch for egg-citing news this week! Our eggs should be hatching Monday!-Mrs. A. 2A/2C ELA- This week we will be starting our final module: Module 10: Many Cultures, One World: Week 1. We will review theme, making inferences, and text features with our stories of the week. We will also review possessive pronouns for grammar and learn how to write a "Thank You Letter." Time is flying by, please make sure you are checking your child's grades weekly to ensure your child ends the year strong. Remember to pack a water bottle daily and BE PRESENT/ ON TIME EVERYDAY! Don't forget to submit your audition video for the Talent Show before 5/6/21. -Ms. B.Martinez

3rd Grade

This week we will be doing our FINAL REVIEW for the Math STAAR test! Please have your student complete every lesson and exit ticket. This review will be extremely important in preparing for the upcoming test!-Ms. Curtis

ELA-This week we will be spelling words with the double middle consonant pattern, doubling the consonant before adding the suffix. Students will take the Reading and Math MAP test. We will review STAAR strategies with a fiction reading passage and questions. Students will review making inferences, cause and effect relationships, and synonyms and antonyms. Please make sure students are reading for at least 20 minutes each day. _Ms. Brown

This week students will continue our unit - Plants & Animals. We will be studying frog and ladybug life cycles. 4th Grade

This week we will take our MAP tests. Students will have the chance to show how much they've grow in reading, math, and science this year. We will also record our podcasts on Friday.-Mrs. Driver

5th Grade

Along with MAP-testing, this week in science we will be practicing our test taking strategies. We will solve simple problems using the UUNS (Understand,Unpack,Navigate,Solve) strategy.

In social studies we will learn about "Bushnell and the Turtle". A submarine was used in the American Revolution? Absolutely. David Bushnell, American patriot and inventor, used reason and logic to build the first military submarine.-Mr. Walton

Hello 5th grade parents and guardians! Happy May! We are moving to our final stages of review for the Math MAP Test and the Math

STAAR Test. Please make sure your child is joining if there is live zoom and completing exit tickets and assignments. They can also practice all STAAR topics on Education Galaxy with self-grading quizzes and videos. Please encourage your child to do their best as we will be using these tests to determine placements. Hello Parents,

We are working on MAP testing this week in Reading and we will also be going over STAAR Reading Reviews in fun ways by using Quiziz, Kahoot, and Jeopardy games with reading reviews built into the learning. We will be working on context clues, inferencing, and comprehension. Please make sure your student finishes all missing work and completes their Exit Ticket daily for each class. Please check the dates for upcoming STAAR Testing. In-person students will take their final STAAR Reading Test next week, and Online students will test the following week.
