Principal's Message
As you will see below, the month of October was a busy one for sure. There were field trips, Fire Safety Day, and a visit from the Varsity Reading Partners. Our Halloween parade was a huge success. Thank you for your support with the procedures we have in place to keep our students safe. That is always our number one priority.
I am sure your child(ren) has been coming home talking about the books they are reading in school. Encouraging your child to read each night is extremely beneficial to their growth as a reader. I know this can be challenging with all of the activities that our children are involved in so any support you can provide with this is appreciated.
A reminder to have any changes in regards to dismissal to the office by 2:00 pm so we can notify the transportation department as well as your child's teacher. As always, we thank you for your support in keeping our children safe and dismissal running smooth.
One change to our calendar is the Grandparent's Dessert Nights. They are being moved to January and more information will follow as it gets closer.
As always, please don't ever hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns.
Respectfully,
Rebecca Toleman

Fire Safety Day!
Due to the inclement weather, the students were unable to go outside and walk through the fire trucks. The students enjoyed all of the gifts the firefighters brought to share with them along with some facts about fire safety.
One of the Fire Safety Tips was to make sure you change your smoke detector batteries twice a year.

Update... From the Kindergarten Rooms!
November is a very busy month! We are excited about learning all of the letters, sounds and beginning to read. The students are doing a great job learning their snap words. Please be sure to review all of this information with your child at home.
We are looking forward to learning about the first Thanksgiving and the early settlers. We will celebrate Thanksgiving with our own “Feast” while dressed like traditional Pilgrims and Native Americans. Our homeroom helpers may contact you to provide items for our feast. Thanks so much for all of your help.
Reading, writing, and math are an important part of our curriculum. Each night it is essential to review and begin to master the letters, their sounds, and be able to use them to sound out words that are implemented during writer’s workshop. In math, the children need to practice recognizing, counting, and printing the numbers (0-20). They will also need to be able to recognize and identify two and three-dimensional shapes!
Thanks for remembering to send in a healthy, daily snack for your child.
Stay warm, dress in layers, and keep reading!

Third Grade Fun!
We're learning about the world we live in during both Science and Social Studies.
We love learning cursive, our math facts, and we've started a new program called 'Typing without Tears'!
We're looking forward to meeting with you during our Parent/Teacher Conferences!

Fourth Grade!
Fourth grades students have continued to impress us this year! The kindness crew has created weekly challenges for the school to promote spreading kindness in new ways. Their impact on fellow students has been profound.
Veteran's night is quickly approaching and the students have been putting in a lot of work to prepare. They've interviewed and gotten pictures of their veterans, begun creating items for the special evening, and have even started practicing songs for that night in music class. This will be a very busy few weeks in Social Studies as they finalize each detail.
In science, students started dissecting owl pellets! After getting over the initial shock of having to touch "owl puke," they all really started to enjoy finding skulls and other vole bones. Students will recreate the vole skeletal system with the very fragile bones they are finding and learn how to share out information from their experiment with the rich vocabulary this unit brings along with it.
We can't wait to see what next month brings!
