Second Nine Weeks Selection
Parents,
Please complete the form (linked below) if your student is currently a remote learner who plans to return to traditional, face-to-face learning on campus for the second nine weeks of school beginning October 26, 2020. This form must be completed by a custodial parent. The deadline for submission is Friday, October 2, 2020.
Please note:
- If your student is currently a remote learner who plans to continue with remote learning for the second nine weeks, no action is needed.
- If your student is currently a traditional learner who plans to continue with traditional learning for the second nine weeks, no action is needed.
- If your student is currently a traditional learner who would like to change to remote learning for the remainder of the first nine weeks, please email jmckinney@mcssk12.org with student name, grade level, and statement of your selection. If your child is on the remote list for the first nine weeks and you want them to remain remote, you do not have to email Ms. McKinney.

Homecoming Spirit Week
It's time for some fun, Trojans!! Homecoming Spirit Week will be October 12-16. We hope you will participate in these fun spirit days by dressing up for each day's theme!
Remote learning students are encouraged to participate from home! Take pictures of yourself in your Spirit Week attire and DM us. We will feature some of our favorites on our page. Follow SGA (Student Government Association) on Instagram at @hghs_sga!
Current Announcements
Attendance for Remote Learners: The Remote Learner Daily Attendance Form must be completed EVERY school day for a remote learner to be counted as present. This form can be found on the homepage of our website in the announcements section.

Balfour: Balfour representatives will be on campus during lunch on October 14th and 15th.
Class Fees Due: Class fees for our traditional, face-to-face students are due by Friday, October 2, 2020. Please check the list to see if your child has any of these teachers/classes that require fees. Class fees can be paid online at MySchoolFees (no student ID number required) or by cash/check at HGHS.
*If you think you may qualify for a fee waiver, please complete the form below and turn it in to your teacher or to the office.
School Forms Due: This is a reminder about the forms that must be signed by all parents and students. The deadline to complete these forms is Friday, October 2.
***These are the same forms that have already been sent out. Please disregard this message if you have already submitted your forms.
Attached you will find a PDF attachment of the school documents that you should review with your child. Once you have reviewed these documents, please CLICK this link to complete a form for your student.
Once you submit this form, you will receive an email from "Formstack Sign" in which you will electronically sign acknowledgement of receipt of these documents.
If your student is in Grades 5-12, he/she will also receive copies of the documents for signature, so please be sure your child checks their email and signs acknowledging receipt of the documents.
Senior Portraits--Deadline October 9: Studio appointments with Lifetouch/Prestige are still available. Formal portraits must be taken by October 9th to ensure inclusion in the yearbook.
If you plan to take yours on campus, Lifetouch/Prestige will be on campus to take senior yearbook photographs on September 30. If you want proofs to be printed, the sitting fee will be $15.
PSAT/NMSQT for 10th & 11th Graders: The Preliminary SAT or PSAT/NMSQT will be given at Hazel Green High School on October 29, 2020, to 10th and 11th grade students who choose to take the test. This is an optional test that provides practice for the SAT and serves as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for 11th grade students. The cost of the test is $20 and can be paid through MySchoolFees. Pay online and then sign up in the Guidance Office by October 21, 2020. Senior Cap & Gown Orders: Seniors, click HERE to order your cap & gown for graduation. No payment is required at this time. Also, please click HERE for your senior brochure from Balfour.
School Pictures:
- Seniors who have not had their senior portraits made can have these made on Wednesday, September 30.
- Make-up pictures for underclassmen will be taken on Wednesday, October 21.
- Remote/virtual students (only underclassmen) may have their school pictures taken on Wednesday, October 21, after school until 5 p.m.
The Trojan Trail: The Trojan Trail will close at 4 p.m. on nights that we host varsity football games.
Volleyball Gear: Trojan volleyball fans can now get their 2020 gear at Print Two Impress!
Shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, and hats can be ordered online and then can be picked up at the store or shipped. Order at: https://p2i.link/hgvolleyball.
Free/Reduced Lunch Application: Apply for free/reduced lunch at the link below. While all students may eat school breakfast and lunch at no cost through December 31, 2020, we will need these applications on file for next semester.
Trojan Athletics
Tickets to home varsity football games can ONLY be purchased online at GoFan or at the HGHS front office on Thursdays from 12 to 3PM (only for home games).
*If you can't make the football games in person, you can watch via live stream at NFHS Live stream.

Permanent Announcements
Online Application for Free/Reduced Meals: Online free and reduced meal applications are available at the link below for a faster, more confidential way to apply. A new application must be completed each school year to qualify for free or reduced meals. Your child's eligibility status carries over to the new school year for the first 30 school days, allowing parents time to re-apply. Only one application per household should be submitted, and everyone living in the house must be included on the application.
