Principal's Message
Greetings Summit View INC Families,
In the spirit of the month I want to take this opportunity to share how sincerely appreciative I am of the relationships between you and our staff to support each student. The progress that our student’s make in their journey as learners, artists, and leaders in the world depends greatly on these connections. Looking forward, we have many opportunities to continue to foster these relationships and share learning experiences between school & home.
February is Magnet Schools Month and as the School District of Waukesha’s only Magnet School we have a responsibility to educate what that means and share what makes us special! To be a Magnet School means that we approach learning through a theme. At Summit View that theme is Arts Integration. Nine years ago, the staff and administration first saw great value in the impact of integrating the arts into the traditional curriculum. Now, we continue this theme with new inspiration to keep content relevant to our students in the changing world. Students learn the content curriculum with a paired art form. This allows an equitable access point to all students- something so greatly needed as students return to Face-to-Face instruction. With accountability measures in place and continued fidelity assessments, we are proud to continue as a recognized, and awarded, Magnet School of Excellence through Magnet Schools of America.
We will use the month of February to share examples of the Summit View student, staff, and family experience as a way of celebrating our journey and current progress. We hope that you will join us in our vision for a creative education by sharing information about Summit View with neighbors and acquaintances. Who knows, maybe they’ll choose Summit View as the school for their child(ren!)
Thank you for your trust and support,
Mr. Sheskey, Principal

February is Magnet School's Month!
Summit View Elementary is Waukesha's only Magnet School and we are celebrating what makes us unique all month long! What does it mean to be a Magnet School? It means that we have a specific theme, or approach, to education. Our theme is Arts Integration! This attracts families outside of our neighborhood footprint which allows us to welcome students from far and wide. Visit our website here to learn more and watch a video featuring students, staff, and families share why they choose Summit View!
Culver's Nights are BACK! (Culvers on Grandview)
Mark your calendars for: Tuesdays 2/2, 3/2, 4/6, 5/4
Before joining, please read the expectations from Culver's to ensure everyone's health and safety:
- The fastest way for each family to participate will be using the Drive Thru. Over the course of the last 12 months the Culvers staff has gotten extremely efficient working in the Drive Through.
- If going inside the restaurant to pick-up or eat, EVERYONE IS REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK WHEN NOT EATING OR AT YOUR TABLE, INCLUDING SCHOOL AGE CHILDREN. This means masks must be worn when entering the store, ordering, going to the restroom or refilling a soda.
- Teachers will not be able to assist with running orders; however, we hope that can continue next year.
Parents United!
At the January PTO Meeting, Mrs. Merrill, our School Psychologist, shared a few resources for families seeking support in the area of student anxiety. One resource is called Parents United. Parents United is a coalition of 27 school districts in collaboration with educators, community resources and related service providers focused on empowering parents of children with disabilities to become effective advocates and informed decision-makers. This non- profit community-based organization provides regular informational workshops featuring experts presenting a wide range of topics relative to students with disabilities and their families.
