History of zinc
Zinc was first widely used in smelting during 1100 to 1500.It was refined by the 1500s in China. The European history states that Zinc was first discovers by Andreas Maggraf in the year 1746, who was the first to recognise it as a new metal.
Zinc's biological uses
Zinc is the 4th most consumed metal on the planet. On average, a human body contains roughly 2.5 grams of zinc and we usually consume about 15 milligrams a day.
Brass (zinc alloy)
Zinc is used to make Brass, which is an alloy of zinc and copper. This is the most common use of zinc, along with galvanizing other metals.
Industrial uses
Zinc Oxide is used in plastics, paints, rubber, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, inks, soaps, batteries, textiles, and electrical equipment. Zinc Sulfide is used in luminescent paints, fluorescent lights and x-ray screens.
