Thank You Note
I received this from a soldier thanking the person who put up a star with his name on it for the Veteran's Day celebration. It sure meant a lot to him.
Greetings Mr. Lord,
I am Lance Corporal Wayne Auker, currently serving active duty in the United States Marine Corps. It has been brought to my attention that either the school itself, or a teacher, has put a star on the wall with my name and branch of service. I would like to personally thank the teacher who has done this, as it allows children to have a stronger bond with service members. I am not addressing this for my own pride, but as a former Pendleton student, I feel the need to appraise this teacher and his or her students. Thank you, and have a wonderful rest of your year.
Sincerely,
Wayne A. Auker

McTeacher Night
What a great evening! Thank you to all the staff members that were able to work the event as well as all of you that promoted the event. We set a new record. Our 20 % profit was $579. The owners, Bill and Lisa Reiser, personally donated $121. As I started to leave, a parent handed me twenty dollars. The grand total for the night is $720. This is $120 more than we earned last year. During the 5-6 time frame, they sold $1700 dollars worth of products, which is the busiest hour the general manager, who has worked at McDonalds for over 30 years, has ever seen. They had three people making fries and were having trouble keeping up.
One of my favorite comments that night came from a person who was not associated with Maple Ridge. When he came in the door he said ' Wow, this is the best staffed McDonald's I have ever seen."
We'll do it all again next November!

Valerie's Vision
Your Vision, part 2
“Teaching is like painting a huge Victorian mansion. And you don’t actually have enough paint. And when you get to some sections of the house it turns out the wood is a little rotten or not ready for the paint. And about every hour some supervisor comes around and asks you to get down off the ladder and explain why you aren’t making faster progress. And some days the weather is terrible. So it takes all your art and skill and experience to do a job where the house still ends up looking good.”
This is a quote from an article shared by another respectable staff member that outlines “The Hard Part” of teaching. For those of you who feel like ‘there is never enough’ (time, resources, you), this article will hit home. Sometimes we all have to find a way to be comfortable with not being perfect. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/peter-greene/the-hardest-part-teaching_b_5554448.html
