Scholastic Book Orders
Scholastic Book Club is a fantastic and easy way to encourage your child to read, read, read! The extra benefit is that every time your child orders a book, your child’s class receives points, money, or books that support our learning! Please click on the link below and enter your child's class code to start your reading adventure!
The deadline to order books is: Extended to Tuesday, September 25 (we had some late orders come in)
Students will be reading books of their choice every day. We anticipate they'll go through a lot of books! We have classroom libraries and the school library available, but students may also bring books from home. We want them to be reading books they love!
A good rule of thumb is between 100 points below and 50 points above their lexile level. 3rd grade students have their current lexile levels on their STAR Reading reports, while we are currently testing 2nd graders on their levels.

Clever
Additional links for academic practice can be found through their Clever portal. Each student has a Clever badge for quick log in to resources like Overdrive, Lexia, and Typing Agent. In addition, they can click on their class link to access even more resources for learning organized by subject.
Need an additional Clever badge to log in at home? Have your child let me know and I can print an additional one for them to take home.

Language Arts
We are looking at elaboration in our reading and writing. How do authors use vivid verbs and awesome adjectives to better describe in their story?
*Please make sure your child is reading for at least 20 minutes a day at home. Encourage them to pick a good, comfortable seat where they can stay focused on reading their book and not get distracted by things around them!
Math
We're continuing our knowledge of skip counting. Ask your child about "Hickory Dickory Dock" and how we skip count around our face.
Social Studies
The students applied their knowledge of continents to complete a Goosechase in which they showcased their skills and completed tasks based on some fun facts about each continent.
3rd Grade
Math
We have begun our "levels" in math. Each student completed a pre-assessment of their skills in double digit addition and subtraction. They each are starting at a particular level and their individual learning will be determined by their learning targets.
