Charlemagne eNews
December 15, 2019
Dear Charlemagne Families:
Only one week of school left before winter break! We’ve got a lot happening this last week and hope you can join us for all of it.
Remember if your student is not going to be at school to call the 24-hour attendance line (541-790-7092) and leave a brief message with the reason for the absence, your child’s name and their teacher.
Campus Clean-up Tomorrow!
Please join us after school tomorrow on Monday, December 16 for our next campus clean-up! If the weather cooperates, we will find some more outside projects. Most likely, we will be inside working on some room moves and materials organization. Meet outside Room 1 just after 3:00 pm.
Food Drive
Thank you to all who participated in our canned food drive. Based just on what we can see that was collected, it was a smashing success! Our Friendly Frenchies have collected huge volumes of food from each teacher daily, which is wonderful. An official poundage will be recorded when Food for Lane County picks up the food Monday. You have also generously filled our boxes for the winter warmth drive. In this season of giving and generosity our school community has certainly made an impact on our community at large! Thank you!
Bathrooms
Just a reminder to families that the bathrooms in the main hall (by the cafeteria) are not designed for adult use. If an adult needs to use the bathroom at the school, please use the adult bathroom that is past the office near the second grade. Thanks so much!
Amazon Smile
Just a reminder that if you’re doing shopping for the holidays online at Amazon, you can purchase items on Amazon Smile and benefit Charlemagne. It works just like the regular Amazon site, but a portion of the sales proceeds are donated to a charity of your choice and you can select Charlemagne as the recipient. This is a great way to benefit the school through no extra cost to our families!
You can read more about how to shop on Amazon Smile below:

Christmas Tree Shopping
If you celebrate Christmas, Spring Creek Holly Farm has offered to donate 50% of any Christmas tree or other holiday purchases to Charlemagne if you tell them that you are a Charlemagne family. This is a beautiful farm on the McKenzie Highway and would make a fun outing with family and friends!
Oregon Battle of the Books
Any questions can be directed to Kim Reeder, our wonderful OBOB coordinator, at kimcooleyreeder@gmail.com
Help a Family in Need
This time of year we love to help those within our own school community. At this time we have a request to help with transportation costs for a family. If you are able to donate please email Mme. Bernadette at conover.b@4j.lane.edu Thank you for your generosity!
Class Reps
We are looking for parents willing to volunteer as representatives for your child’s class to liaison with the PTO once a month at our monthly meetings. This will ensure the families in each classroom are connected with the PTO. Please email frenchiepto@gmail.com if you’re willing to volunteer. We currently need reps for:
Fourth Grade - Mme. Shelli & Mme. Jana
Fifth Grade - Mme. Grabowski
After School Programs
