Dear SMG Families,
Today, we remember all those who have gone before us who have fought for our freedoms. Freedom is not free. It is not a right but a privilege. It comes with great cost. Let us reflect today on the wonderful freedoms we have in this country- to practice our faith and believe in God, to speak our minds, to bear arms, to peacefully assemble, to vote, etc. We live in a country that respects these freedoms and fights to uphold them. We honor those who paid the ultimate cost, their lives, so that we are free. We thank their families for their service and pray for them as well.
The end of the year is coming to a close. It has been a fun filled adventure. I am thankful for the time I have spent here at Saint Maria Goretti. It has been my pleasure to serve the students and you. You will all hold a special place in my heart, and I wish you all many wonderful blessings in the years to come.
In His service,
Prayer for Memorial Day
God of power and mercy, you destroy war and put down earthly pride. Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears, that we may all deserve to be called your sons and daughters. Keep in your mercy those men and women who have died in the cause of freedom and bring them safely into your kingdom of justice and peace.
We ask this though Jesus Christ our Lord.
Congratulations to our 2018 Graduates!
SMG is proud of our graduates! You have gained knowledge, faith, courage, and compassion in the years you have been here. May God show you how to use these in your life to make this world a little better place and make life with its problems a little easier to face. May you serve others in any way with a smile, a kind word, or random act of kindness, Be ready to face whatever challenge with Jesus by your side. We wish you many blessings in your future endeavors.

FINAL SPIRIT HOUR UPDATE
Hello SMG Families!
A big 'THANKS' to all of our school families for the many volunteer hours you have contributed to our school this year. We are blessed by your contributions of time, talent, and treasure in support of our school community. Final SPIRIT reports will go home this week to all families who had not fulfilled their 40 hour commitment by the last SPIRIT reporting period in February. Please check your youngest student's backpack. If you do not receive a report this week and are unsure about your hours, please feel free to email me and I will verify your status. If you earned hours that are not on your report, please submit them as soon as possible so that your account may be updated before final year-end reports go to Mrs. Pierce and Mrs. Benson.
Please check out SignUp Genius if you still need SPIRIT hours for this year. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0448ada622a5fe3-ajunior
Keep an eye out for emails about volunteer opportunities that may arise over the summer. Any hours you earn after May 30th will count for the next school year.
Lastly, several grades are posting requests on Signup Genius for items for Field Day or class parties. Please note that donated items for class parties/Field Day are NOT eligible for SPIRIT hours. SPIRIT hours may only be earned for set up, working Field Day, and clean up.
It has been my privilege to serve you this year. I hope you have a wonderful summer break.
