The shang dynasty was the first true civilization of China. They Centrelized government,built strong cities ,and began the Chinese culture.Again , the Huang He River was essential in centralizing government .Without it , there would be no agriculture which is fundemental aspect of all ancient civilizations .Once the social classes were intact , the rulers were more set apart from the rest of the people to give that distinctionfor the reputation and respect to the rulers then the government became more centralized and the territory expanded we know that the capital was changed at least 6 times which soldifies the knowledge that substantial growth was made during this time period from Xia China . Sucesses allowed the people of the shang dynasty to develop the culture starting traditions like oracle bone writing and ancestor worship that would stay with China for many years to come

Economics

economics:

silk,bronze,and jade were important products during the Shang dynasty. the Shang dynasty was in the bronze age, so bronze was common. they only traded within china, since there was poor trade roots and the Shang dynasty was the first recorded dynasty. the occupations that grew were farmers,servants,potters,crafts workers,and engineers.

inventions/technology/science & architecture:

the important discoveries were:

  • bronze/the bronze age
  • oracle bones/oracles
  • the Chinese calendar
  • chopsticks
  • they domesticated the horse
  • human sacrifice
the houses that they had were made of timbre, over rammed earth floors,walls of wattle and daub, thatch roofs.

The ancestral cult was based on five key premises .First was the belief that the world was divided into three tiers : heaven, earth and the under world . The three levels though distinct were viewed as an incorrected reality . Second was the importance of lineage . A chinese family was connected not only there fathers and mothers of the recent past but those from the distant past .
