Bushy Park PTA Newsletter

We are Here
The PTA is not closed for business. In fact, as I learned when I took this position, we never close. We’re actively working on activities to keep our young learners engaged and virtually connected during this unprecedented time. We're also collaborating with our friends at Running Brook Elementary School PTA as well.
The top priority is supporting the kids. The second is keeping the adults sane or at least trying to.
Bushy Park Zooms!
On Wednesday (3/18), we hosted our first Bushy Park Zooms! Grade-Level Meet-ups. Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade students got to say "Hi" and chat with each other. We got to meet adorable pets and baby sisters too!
Today, Thursday (3/19), 3rd Grade Meet-up: 10am and 5th Grade Meet-up: 1pm. Friday (3/20), Pre-K Meet-up: 10am and 1st Grade Meet-up: 1pm. There is a virtual happy hour at 5pm on Friday too! The PTA is not allowed to serve alcohol, but you can.
Beginning Monday, March 23rd, the PTA will continue host grade-level meet-ups on Mondays AND Thursdays for as long as we need them:
- Pre-K: 10am-10:45am
- Kindergarten: 11am-11:45am
- 1st Grade: 1pm-1:45pm
- 2nd Grade: 2pm-2:45pm
- 3rd Grade: 3pm-3:45pm
- 4th Grade: 4pm-4:45pm
- 5th Grade: 5pm-5:45pm
These are meant to be outright silliness -- no instruction provided. We hope this will give the kids a Bushy Park specific activity to look forward to.
In order to support this effort, I need volunteers to help host a grade-level meet-ups. This requires the following:
- The Zoom App.
- Your email address, so I can add you as an alternate host to the Zoom.
- Join the meeting five-minutes before it begins.
- A reasonable attention span for the first 10-15 minutes of the Zoom meet-up to allow participants to enter.
Please understand that I'm asking for a grade-level (day and time) commitment for meet-ups so there is consistency for the event. Please email me at email@example.com with interest.
For meet-up details, please visit our Calendar. Be sure to test Zoom, before the meet-up to avoid frustration.
As a reminder, our school is a mobile “Grab-N-Go” site for free and nutritious meals to anyone age 18 and under. Meals will be available from 11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m., weekdays, Tuesday, March 17th through Friday, March 27th.
Additionally, if your family is in need of food, please email me confidentially at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are in this together and will be supporting our community.
We are here. We miss you too. Virtual hugs to you all!
On behalf of our leadership team, we wish you all good health and patience.

March Membership Drawing
"Salam Alaikum means 'Peace be upon you.' It is the greeting that Muslims around the world use to say 'hello' and 'good-bye.' International music sensation Harris J has taken that greeting and created a call to action.
Spread peace on the earth...
Treasure the love, let it surround us
Always be kind, always remind one another
Peace on the earth every day
Using the lyrics to the hit song of the same name, and accompanied by heartwarming illustrations that depict the power of paying it forward, this sweet and charming picture book celebrates kindness and community." B&N Overview
The PTA will be doing a drawing from all family memberships at the end of March for Salam Alaikum: A Message of Peace, by Harris J and Ward Jenkins.
