October 2022 #ourcorgitale
Message from Dr. Fay & Mrs. Henson
Crossroads Parents,
Happy October and hello to beautiful fall weather! Everyone at Crossroads is super thankful for this weather so we can get outside with the kids.
Speaking of being thankful, our PTA Raise Craze Fundraiser kicked off earlier this week. Our goal with this fundraiser is to have our students complete as many Acts of Kindness as possible. The kids are pumped about it and we all know when we help others it makes us feel great too. If your child hasn’t talked with you yet about the Raise Craze Fundraiser, please be sure to ask them about it this weekend.
We have a lot of fun things planned for the month of October. One of them is Rock Your School Day on October 21. We are going to have fun and dress up like rock stars! Our staff and students are all encouraged to participate. Please keep in mind that all outfits should still fall under all dresscode expectations.
Our Fall Party will be on October 25. We will be sending out specifics about the day as we get back to having a classroom party and parade. Please stay tuned for more information to come over the next week or so.
Have a great October!

PTA Update!
Hi Corgis!
Happy October! This may be our busiest month of the year, but we are very excited about everything that is coming up.
Thank you to everyone who came to our Cold Stone dining night last month! It was a huge success and we made $500. We hope to see you at The Post on October 13 for our next dining night. They will be donating 15% of the proceeds from meals all day long! Don’t forget to tell them that you’re there with Crossroads!
Thank you also to everyone who attended Party on the Playground and movie night! It was an amazing evening; we estimate close to 400 people were in attendance! Families had fun playing on the playground and with yard games, kids got paw tattoos in their house colors, and everyone enjoyed the movie as it got dark. A big thank you to all of the volunteers who helped with the event, especially our social event chairs Crystal Oats and Kim LaBarge.
At Party on the Playground, we also launched our Buzz Book project. We are collecting information to help connect Crossroads families. If you would like to be a part of our Buzz Book, please fill out the form at the link below. Information will only be shared with those who want to participate.

On October 18, we are excited to be bringing back the in-person Corgi Store during lunchtime. After they’ve eaten, students will have an opportunity to shop at our school store. We will have spirit wear for sale, but most items will be $5 or less. The Corgi Store was always a student favorite and we look forward to seeing their smiling faces on that day. This is a cash only store.
On October 21, we will be bringing back Trunk or Treat. We are thrilled to be able to have this event for the first time in a few years. Information on how to participate, attend and volunteer will be sent home soon. We will also be bringing back our in-person Veterans Day Assembly next month. Information will be coming home soon about that as well.
On October 6, every student will have a chance to participate in our Day of Service. We will be assembling Homeless Care Bags as our Corgis Care Service Project and donating them to the Salvation Army of O'Fallon. That is over 600 bags to benefit our community directly. Please consider donating items to help us create the bags. You can purchase what you would like to donate from the Amazon wish list linked below and it will be shipped directly to us.
Thank you for your support! https://a.co/iyhHaTL
We’re Going Crazy
We are very excited about our fundraiser this year, Raise Craze. Raise Craze is a fundraiser where students collect donations and then show their appreciation by serving others and completing random Acts of Kindness. In other words, students spend time serving, not selling! The way it works is students ask friends and family members to support our school by making tax deductible donations, and then they pay it forward by doing good deeds. We will be running the fundraiser through October 12. Hopefully you’ve already registered your
students, but if not, here is the information:
Registration Link: https://my.raisecraze.com/app2/join/AK588CY
1. Enter your student’s name
2. Select at least 3 Acts of Kindness
3. Enter 5-10 email addresses of potential supporters. Raise Craze will send all emails, reminders and thank you notes. Emails will never be shared with third parties or used for marketing.
We chose Raise Craze because it reinforces kindness in the classroom and improves the culture of our school. We loved that everyone can participate by completing Acts of Kindness. No one is left out! And because Raise Craze is about more than just raising money, we’ve set an Acts of Kindness goal in addition to a financial goal. No Act of Kindness is too small and every one counts so please encourage your children to log Acts of Kindness on their personal websites every day. If we meet our goals, Dr. Fay will be turned into a human sundae at our
Closing Celebration. We all want to see that!
Information At A Glance:
Dates: Sept. 27 - Oct. 12
Our Goal: $30,000
School-Wide Week of Service: Oct. 3 - Oct. 7

Arrival and Dismissal - Please Read Carefully
All of our car riders and our daycare van riders will go to the gym at the end of the day. Once in the gym, a staff member will call students’ names over the radio for them to come out to meet their vehicle. A staff member will escort students to each car.
PLEASE READ: We are no longer allowing parents to walk up to get their children. You will need to drive through the pick-up line.
We will be sending home lime green car tags with all students on their first day of school, 8/22. (They will also be available at Meet the Teacher night.) ***PLEASE USE A THICK MARKER TO FILL THESE OUT***
When you drive through the car lanes, please have the lime green car tag on your dashboard where we can see the names of your students. If you do not have the car tag, we will have to check your ID, radio the office, and wait for them to clear you before we can call your child out. As you can imagine, this will slow down the process for everyone.
A few other things to keep in mind with this process: Please remember, we do not accept dismissal changes after 3:00 pm. Also, our primary focus is student safety and 3:20 is a critical time when children can potentially get lost in the shuffle; it is imperative that we streamline the secretaries’ time to focus only on emergencies that arise. With that in mind, please understand that we will not permit access to the office after 3:20 to check out a student. Please plan accordingly so we aren’t caught in the position to have to tell you no.
Also, remember that you are responsible for calling in to change if your walker will become a car rider during the days with inclement weather. We will no longer be sending a text about rainy day dismissals.
The expectation is all parents will have the lime green car tags ready to go by August 29. If you have any questions or thoughts, please let us know.
Please review our arrival and dismissal maps below:

You Shop, The School Gets Paid!
Did you know that when you shop on Amazon, it’s easy for Crossroads to get a small percentage from your purchase? All you have to do is shop through AmazonSmile instead of Amazon. Once you’ve set up your account, your shopping experience will be identical. The difference is that when you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice. Crossroads Elementary PTA would be grateful to be the charity you choose. Go to smile.amazon.com to get started. Once you’ve set this up, it’s easy to set up your Amazon app to link to AmazonSmile as well.
