Learning Update
Remote Learning to Virtual Learning
Dear New Haven Unified Parents and Guardians,
As schools will not be able to offer in-person instruction for the remainder of the school year, we are now going to be making a shift from “Remote Learning” to “Virtual Learning” beginning on Monday, April 13, 2020.
Virtual Learning is not intended to replace or replicate In-Classroom Instruction
Our teachers will be preparing for this shift during the week of April 6 - April 10. This preparation includes online staff and grade level meetings, professional development to ensure equity and access in our online classrooms, as well as training on appropriate technology tools to engage students in virtual learning. Teachers will be collaborating on what essential standards and skills will be the priority during this time including appropriate delivery and assessment methods. Teachers will also be collaborating in order to plan for virtual learning for students.
Parents and Students can expect the following:
A weekly video (welcome, instructions and lessons for the week)
A virtual check in with students at least once per week
Whole Class Virtual Meetings OR
Small group Virtual Meetings OR
“Office Hours” for students who may need individual support
Response to email and voicemail within 48 hours

Chromebook Distribution
Any student who needs a device to learn at home needs to fill out the following request form ASAP. All students will be expected to have a device and the ability to access online instruction beginning Monday, April 13th.
Eastin will be distributing Chromebooks to students in grades TK - 8th grade. Distribution will be Tuesday April 7th through Friday April 10th between the hours of 9 am and 12 noon. We plan to have a system set up which will allow parents to pick up Chromebooks without getting out of their car. As you come to campus, please follow the directions of staff in the parking lot. We will utilize our drop-off/pick-up lane.
Please plan on coming to Eastin during the following times. This will help us ensure we have a smooth process and can provide Chromebooks to families as quickly as possible. If you have multiple students within the grades of TK - 8th grade, you may pick up all student Chromebooks at the same time. We ask that you plan on coming during the window for your OLDEST student. Again, this will distribute our numbers more evenly and allow for a smoother process.
