Mr. Posick's Friday thoughts
May 8, 2013
Great week for our staff
Thanks to all of you who have spent that little extra time, and money, to show your appreciation to the Merton staff. We have enjoyed the treats, the flowers, and the words of encouragement. I was able to show my appreciation to the staff this week in a variety of ways. Monday was Workout Clothes Day for the staff. Tuesday I provided lunch from Subway. Wednesday was Merton Spiritwear Day and I provided bagels for our monthly Wednesday meeting. Thursday I provided a Megamillions ticket (jackpot was for $154 million dollars on Friday night). Friday was Jeans Day. The staff and I enjoyed the week and the students provided "Thank Yous" to the staff on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. We continue to work with our students, providing valuable lessons that help to grow our students academically and socially. If you have a moment, we would love to have you visit a classroom or two to see what is going on.
Last week's Friday letters
Last week, I sent a letter specific to each grade level. In these letters, I provided the dates for MAP testing as well as a brief description of what next school year will bring. If you can't find the email I sent, you can find each of the letters on the Merton twitter feed which is found on my website. If you are on twitter, you can follow the Intermediate School by following @mertonint.
Spring Concert and Art Show May 21st
Ms. McGinnis, Mrs. Erato, and Mrs. Bartelt are looking forward to a great Spring Concert and Art Show on May 21st. But we need your help! Mrs. Bartelt has a collection of student art work that she would like to showcase, but she needs parent volunteers to help her prepare for the evening. If you would be available to assist, please contact Mrs. Bartelt at firstname.lastname@example.org or sign up on this link (http://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040E4BAFA72EA02-artfaire). I hope to see you there!
On Tuesday, May 7th, some of our students and staff attended Writers' Roundup at Camp Whitcomb. They had a beautiful day to write, draw, and explore the outdoors. They even had a chance to speak with and learn from an author! Mr. Budisch and I were lucky enough to attend the closing ceremonies. It was a wonderful experience for everyone.
I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend. I have the wonderful opportunity to participate in a father/daughter dance at my daughter's dance recital this weekend. I told your child about this on Wednesday and promised to share a video with them. I will also make sure that you have an opportunity to see the video, too.
