ADMINISTRATION UPDATE
Dear CCS Friends and Families,
There have been many special events and everyday events to celebrate within the last week. Pictures often tell the best stories, so this week’s newsletter will have a shorter message and a longer list of celebrations! Please read on to get a glimpse of the action taking place at CCS.
Kind regards,
Stephanie, Jen and Cassandra
CELEBRATIONS
● Scott Lollis and Susan Durham (both neurosurgeons at UVM Medical Center) visited CCS on Monday and taught fifth grade students about the brain and let them use some of the tools they use in neurosurgery. Students also got to see and touch a real human brain and ask questions about what they were observing. It was definitely a day kids will remember!
● CCS students have made cards and letters of support for those affected by this fall’s hurricanes. This week, fourth grade students helped sort the letters and cards so that they could be sent out.
● 6th graders visited the library last week to learn and practice Visual Thinking Strategies. Students analyzed primary source photographs that connect to their reading of the novel Counting on Grace by Elizabeth Winthrop.
● A small group of students toured Rhino Foods to understand the various types of work that is done there and participated in taste-testing last Friday.
● Second graders have been collecting recycled 12-pack cardboard boxes - this week they used them to build and play Giant Jenga.
● The Holiday Craft fair was a great way to spend a few hours and dollars Saturday. One vendor wanted to complement all of the children who came through the sales, saying they were respectful and pleasant to chat with.

PTO HOLIDAY MARKET UPDATE
Dear Parents,
We would like to say THANK YOU for all of your help and support with the CCS Holiday Market. It was a huge success and we couldn’t have done it without you! Several vendors told us that they’ve never been to an event where everyone was so helpful and cheery! From parents and students helping vendors unload their cars, to the delicious baked goods you guys made, everything you did was greatly appreciated!
Thanks a million!
