Spoiler Alert: Spirit Week, AAPI Affinity meeting, Pride Month, End-of-year activities, Online Auction, Chromebook News ...
Hello da Vinci Families,
I hope the weekend was good to you. We are in the homestretch and so very close to the closing of the 2021-2022 academic school year! The next few weeks are quite busy. Below is additional information to help you navigate the last few weeks:
Junior Rose Festival
In accordance with the most recent guidance from PPS in regard to walk-outs, the same information applies for the Junior Rose Festival. If you would like your student to attend the Junior Rose Festival, we ask that you sign them out and pick them up in person. The other option is to just keep your kiddos home with you for the day, as the front office can get a little congested with families trying to sign their students out all at once. If you plan to keep your student home, please send Sheli and email ahead of time, so Sheli can record their attendance.
Band Students
Band students will head to the starting point for the festival on a school bus. However, students will be walking back to school after the festival. Additional information will come from Mr. Gerolami and will be shared with families.
Don't forget to check out the PTSA online auction and keep tending your bids. We are approaching our goal with over $7,600 in winning bids so far. There are some new items listed since last week.
Also, In order to sustain the PTSA and all of the support they provide da Vinci students and staff with, we really need PTSA Board Members for the 2022-23 school year. If interested, see the PTSA section of the newsletter.
All the very best,
Principal Davis
P.S.
Spirt Week Starts May 31st!! Students and staff are wearing their jammies.

8th Grade Promotion
Important Information about 1:1 Chromebooks
Please read the following important information regarding Chromebook return and/or Chromebook retention over the summer. *Action is required*. This letter and form were sent home on Friday.
Per district policy, we need to ensure that all students have their Chromebook & charger, as well as get any needed repairs done over the summer. There are different actions depending on the grade of your student. In all cases, this letter needs to be filled out and returned to school. We will be sending paper copies of the letter home this week.
6th and 7th Grade Students:
You have the option to keep your Chromebook over the summer or turn it into da Vinci for safekeeping.
If you choose to keep your Chromebook over the summer, the appropriate box on the attached form needs to be checked, as well as both student and parent signatures. When you bring your form in, you must also bring your Chromebook and charger so they can be accounted for on the school’s inventory sheet (you will then keep your device once it’s inventoried).
If you choose to turn your Chromebook in over the summer, you will not receive the same computer back next year. Returned Chromebooks need to be free of writing, stickers, and residue (to the best of your ability).
**Return & Inventory Dates for 6th/7th Graders:
Bring all items (including the attached form) on Tuesday 6/7 & Wednesday 6/8.
If you’re keeping your device/equipment over the summer, you will get them checked and then take them back home. If you’re returning your device for the summer, you will not have it for use after this day.
6th & 7th-grade students not returning to da Vinci next year:
You must also fill out the attached form and return your Chromebook, charger, and case to da Vinci on the date listed above.
8th Grade Students:
Per district policy, you must return your Chromebook, charger, and case (if you have one) to da Vinci before the end of the year. Returned Chromebooks need to be free of writing, stickers, and residue (to the best of your ability). Additionally, the attached form must be filled out and returned with your device. If any repairs will be needed over the summer, please include a note stating what needs repair.
As can be seen on the form, 8th graders can check out a loaner Chromebook (not their currently issued device) for the summer, if needed. If this is done, please note that this equipment must be returned directly to da Vinci at the end of the summer.
**Return Date for 8th Graders:
Bring all items (Chromebook, charger, case), including the attached form on Friday 6/3.
Please mark your calendars according to the date(s) above so we can make this end-of-year inventory/collection go as smoothly as possible.
Any questions, please reach out to the office or Kerry Bayne (kbayne@pps.net).
Cell Phone and Personal Electronics Policy
If phones are out when they are not supposed to be, teachers or other staff members will ask for the phone to be kept in the office until the end of the day. After three occasions, we will be contacting parents/guardians.
Earbuds and headphones generally should not be brought to school unless a student has a Special Education plan for their use.
Attendance Reporting Reminder
COVID-19 OHSU Screening and Home Test Distribution
If your student needs a screening spit kit for next week, have them stop in the office or let Sheli in the office know to deliver one to them.
If you have extra tests that are unopened and in good condition, please return them so they can be used.
NEW - We have received enough iHealth test kits from the Oregon Health Authority to distribute one to each student for home use. We will be handing these out this week.
Safe Oregon
SafeOregon is a program created for Oregon students, parents, school staff, community members and law enforcement officers to report and respond to student safety threats. Please see this brochure for information about how to share information.
