BHS S1 Information

Semester one final exams for all classes will be suspended. However, students who need to provide more evidence of understanding, will have an opportunity to revisit course work on December 21st and 22nd. Final participation expectations have been posted by teachers. Students and parents can access this information through Infinite Campus parent/student portal. Select "grades" from the left navigation bar. Expectations are posted as "BHS S1 Final Grade Status".

The info below describes how teachers will use these last two days.

Student with a COMPLETE

  • Students have completed all elements of the course and provided evidence at a consistent level of performance. Additional evidence would not change the grade.
  • Selected courses may strongly encourage participation on these days. Teachers will share specifics for their courses, but many Advanced Placement and Dual Credit courses will take advantage of these days.
  • Attendance will be marked as Present.

Students with an OPTIONAL

  • Students have completed all elements of the course and provided evidence at an inconsistent level of performance. Additional evidence could improve a C+ to a B- or a B+ to an A-.

  • Students have the opportunity, but are not required, to participate.
  • Although additional evidence may result in a higher grade, the student's grade cannot be impacted negatively.
  • Providing additional evidence does not guarantee a higher grade.
  • Attendance will be marked as Present.

Students with an INCOMPLETE

  • Students are missing one or two major assessments/assignments OR have performed significantly below their typical level of achievement on a specific grading task. Additional evidence could improve their Final Grade.
  • Participation in order to provide additional evidence is required of students.
  • Although additional evidence may result in a higher grade, the student's grade cannot be impacted negatively.
  • Providing additional evidence does not guarantee a higher grade.
  • Students must attend both days for attendance to marked as Present, if a student does not attend they will be marked as Absent.

D220 offers families choice to participate in Hybrid or Distance Learning starting Jan. 19

In the high school Hybrid 2.0 plan, students would remain in two groups, "Group A" and "Group B". However, it would include Wednesdays as an additional in-person instruction day. For example, one week Group A would be in person all day Monday-Wednesday, while Group B would be in person all day Thursday-Friday. The following week Group A would be in person Monday-Tuesday and Group B would be in person Wednesday-Friday. Students who choose to continue Distance Learning would continue to follow the schedule they are currently following, as teachers will be providing concurrent (simultaneous) instruction to students who are remote and in person.

On December 16th, parents received an email with instructions on how to update the learning mode for their student(s). If you are not changing the selection you made in October, no action is required! If you wish to change your selection, please log into your Infinite Campus parent portal and from the message center, select the survey tab to access the Update Learning Mode Questionaire. Updates must be completed by Sunday, December 20th at 11:59PM.

MATERIAL DROP - OFF

First semester courses that received additional materials to support learning, are asked to return the materials on December 21st or 22nd from 8AM to 6:30PM or December 23rd from 8AM to 3:30PM. Students needing to return items have received an email from their teacher and our circulation software, Destiny, informing them of what materials are required to be returned.

Winter Break Home Internet Security Check: Limit Adult Websites on a Barrington 220 iPad

The start of winter break is a good time to routinely check and maintain your home Internet security plan. Using the Screen Time feature built into the District iPad can help you establish web content restrictions. If you do not already have home Internet filtering set up, you can set up Screen Time on the district iPad to limit adult content as a first step.

BHS 8th Grade Parent Night

8th Grade Transition presentation will be emailed to both parents and students the week of January 25th with a Zoom Q & A TBD to follow.
