What a great week to be a STALLION!
Good Afternoon Parents,
I just want to take the time to say thank you for being our partners in educating our students. We had several reverse-ISS placements last week and I think that they were awesome and served their purpose. You may be thinking, Mr. Bradley, what is a reverse-ISS placement? A reverse-ISS placement is used if a student is assigned ISS but in place of them serving in ISS, the parent comes and sits with the student all day in their classes. Last week 2 of our parents did that and they were able to gain valuable insight as to their kids everyday "school life."
We appreciate and value your time and input here on this campus. If you have free time and you would like to volunteer, we welcome you. You just need to have a valid drivers license to be checked in. You can help us at lunch, with metal detectors, field trips, etc. Just let us know!
Our next PTO meeting is this Wednesday @ 5:30 in the Library. See you there!
See you around the campus...
Remember, we are the Best school with the Best students and the Best faculty and staff. Good, Better, Best!!! Never let it rest, until your good gets better and your better gets best!
Sincerely,
Leroy Bradley II

One School, One Book
Dear Parent/Guardian: This month our school will be embarking on a special project, an all-school book club called One School, One Book™. Every student will have access to the same book titled Fish in Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt. I am personally asking you to make the time so that your family can participate in this special activity. Reading aloud at home is valuable because it better prepares your child to be an effective reader, and it is also a fun, worthwhile family activity. Our 6th grade students will read the book with their ELA teachers and our 7th and 8th grade students will read it with their electives teachers. However, all students will have access to additional copies in the library, which they may check out. With the One School, One Book™ program, we aim to build a Community of Readers at our school. Everyone – students, parents, teachers, and even administrative staff will all be following along together. Along with the book, you will receive a reading schedule so that you can keep up at home.

Suggest that your child make study guides as he does homework. He can collect facts from worksheets, textbooks, and other assignments and keep them in a folder. That way, all the information will be at his fingertips when it’s time to study for a test.

Before your teen dines at friends’ houses or in a restaurant, brush up on basic manners. You might remind her to put her napkin on her lap, leave her (silenced) cell phone in her purse, and put her gum in the trash before sitting down, for example.

Word problems for homework? Marking them up can help your child identify the important parts and solve them more easily. Suggest that he start by circling the numbers, underlining the question he needs to answer, and crossing out unnecessary information.

Attending parent-teacher conferences lets you know how your teen is doing and shows that you think her education is important. Before you go, jot down questions to ask (“Is she turning in assignments on time?”). Afterward, talk to your child about how things went.

If your teen is having trouble understanding something he’s reading, offer to read it to him. Sometimes hearing the information aloud is enough to make it “click.” If he still has questions, have him tag it with a sticky note and ask his teacher about it.

Keep track of school-related paperwork with two file folders. Label one “inbox” and the other “outbox.” Your child can put anything that needs your attention in the “inbox.” Check it daily and move completed papers to the “outbox” for the trip back to school.

Pull out a family snapshot and use it as an excuse for your family to write. Set a timer and have everyone write nonstop for two minutes, jotting everything they remember about the event in the photo. When time's up, read your memories to each other.
