Matisse The Wild One!
Henri Matisse was born in northern France in 1869. He was always a day dreamer and his family was worried he wouldn't amount to anything! They were so relived when he went to school and became a lawyer. Unfortunately... or fortunately he became very ill and had to be hospitalized for some time and his mother bought him a paint set! He loved it instantly. Matisse is most known for his bright colors and crazy patterned paintings and collages, which earned him the title "Fauves" meaning Wild One or Wild Beast.
Students Inspired
Taking inspiration form all the wonderful work of Matisse the students created collages. First they cut out organic shapes and geometric shapes. Then they layered them down on a piece of plexi with glue.
