This week was a busy one, with the students enjoying some great opportunities to be out in the fresh air! Stage 2 enjoyed their excursion to La Perouse on Monday and looked to be having lots of fun (see photos below). Lots of our students participated in Walk Safely to School Day on Friday and it was great to have so many families join us for a healthy breakfast before school - what a great way to start the day! Some of us went on to spend Friday out in the fresh air at the Zone Cross Country Carnival where students participated and made our school proud.

Don't forget the important events this week:

* SRC Handball Fundraiser for Stewart House

* Return notes and money for Interrelate

* Regional Dance Festival tickets on sale from today

SRC Handball Fundraiser

The SRC will be selling handballs at 8.45 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, under the basement COLA. They will be $3.00 each and the proceeds will go to Stewart House.

Zone Cross Country

Last Friday, Mr Murphy, Ms Hoskins and 32 students attended the Zone Cross Country at Heffron Park. It was a beautiful day to spend outdoors, with the sun shining and perfect conditions for running. Our Junior students (8, 9 and 10 years) ran for 2km, and our Senior students (11 and 12 years) ran 3km. All students put in a huge effort and we are proud of their achievements.

Congratulations to Caprice Stokes who finished second in her age race, and Kane Messenger who finished fifth. Caprice and Kane will compete at the Regional Cross Country to be held later this term.

Walk Safely to School Day

Congratulations to all students who participated in Walk Safely to School Day last Friday. It was great to see so many students and parents participate and join in our healthy breakfast. An enormous thank you must go to Brasserie Bread for donating all of the bread for the breakfast, and to Eastgarden's Fruit Centre for donating one box each of apples, mandarins and bananas. Thanks also to Mrs Twitching and Miss Fahey for organising the morning's events.

Interrelate Evening - REPEAT

Every two years, Banksmeadow Public School hosts an evening presented by Interrelate. This evening provides an opportunity for parents and children in Years 3-6 to attend and learn about issues relating to personal relationships. It can be a great ice breaker for topics which may otherwise be difficult for parents to discuss with their children.

The Interrelate evening will be held on Tuesday 31st May from 6:00pm. There will be two sessions:

* Session 1 - Where did I come from? (Years 3-6) @ 6:00 - 7:00pm

* Session 2 - Preparing for Puberty (Years 5-6) @ 7:15-8:15pm

Notes containing information regarding payments were sent home last week. Please return payment by Tuesday 24th May.
