Family Fun Knight

Otsego will once again be having a “Family Knight” this fall. It will be on Wednesday, November 14th.

The goal of Family Night is to encourage families to take the evening to focus on each other and spend time together as a family in whatever way works for your family. There will be no homework, assignments or tests the next day. There will also be NO athletic practices or any other extra-curricular activities on the family night. We hope you can take advantage of this night and celebrate being a family!

Sea Cadets

Sea Cadet Informational Packet - Click Here

The Sea Cadets is the Navy and Coast Guard’s official youth group. It is designed to allow boys and girls ages 10 to 18 the chance to not only see what military life is like without any long-term commitments but to also learn many different skills and to try different career paths before dedicating themselves to them. Sea Cadets is a drug, bullying, and gang-free environment with our core principals being HONOR, COURAGE, and COMMITMENT.

We are planning an informational meeting about the program on Thursday, November 15th from 6 – 9 P.M. at the Toledo Yacht Club.

If you have any questions or wish to discuss the program further, you can reach me by email or by phone 419-690-9013.

Post Prom Flash Fund Fundraising

You may have heard that the Class of 2020 Post Prom Committee is working to make sure Otsego’s Junior and Senior Post Prom is going to be a safe event! Prom is one of the two most dangerous nights for high school students to be on the road so we bus them to a fun event instead! The Junior Class is always responsible for raising the funds that pay for busses etc.

Many of you may have received an email from a student that you know, asking you to visit an online site to make a donations or to shop an online catalog. Student participating in the fundraiser can take any amount of donation or earn 40% of catalog sales; the catalog has 1500+ items. If a student raises $100 or $250 TOTAL in donations, they can earn tuition rewards valued at $1000 or $2500 at over 400 different universities, so every donation, no matter how big or small helps them too. Tuition rewards can also be passed to siblings.

If you are uncomfortable with online donations, and would still like to support keeping our students safe after prom, you can send a check to Otsego Post Prom into the high school office in an envelope marked Otsego Post Prom.

For those that didn't receive an email from one of our students, we still wanted to give you the chance to support our students. By clicking the link below, you’ll go directly to our donation page. Thank you for your help in keeping our students safe during this exciting time!

Thanksgiving Meal

Mark your calendars we will be serving the Thanksgiving Meal in the Jr. High/ High school on

Thursday, November 15th.

Sliced turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoes from the garden, green beans, stuffing, dinner rolls, fruit , milk and a brownie.

To better assist our parents, we have implemented an online free and reduced meal application. This will eliminate having to get a paper application, filling it out and returning it to your child’s school.

Fill out the online application under www.lunchapplication.com, just as you would the paper application. Once the application is completed we are notified so we can complete the application process. This will reduce your notification time.

Please make sure you have a correct mailing address on the application, so the notification letter gets to you.

Pay It Forward

We will be once again helping our students out with our Food Service Pay It Forward Project. This fund will provide meals to students who do not have lunch money in their account and cannot charge anymore. We want all of our students to get a hot meal every day. If you are interested in helping with this project you can send money into the central office or any of the buildings. Just put Food Service Pay It Forward on the envelope. You can make checks payable to the Otsego BOE. Thank you so much!!

If you have questions please email our Food Service Supervisor, Jeanie Jeffers or follow on twitter @Otsego_Cafe

Student Council

Knight in Shining Armour

Please use the following form to inform OHS Student Council about a family in need within the school district. While the family does not need to have students in the district, we do ask that they are a member of the Otsego Community. Use this form to share information about their current situation as well as how they can best be assisted.

Please be sure to understand that while Knight in Shining Armor (KISA) would love to help all community members in need, we are still a new program, and may not have the funds to do so. With that being said, we will consider each request on a case by case basis. Filling this form out does not guarantee that we will be able to assist the family, but we will try our hardest to do so!

Here are some things that we have done with KISA funds:

  • School supplies were purchased for multiple families.
  • Gas money has been provided to get to and from medical treatment.
  • Food cards have been provided to help families afford meals while going through medical treatment.
  • Cash donations have been made to families to help assist in paying bills during medical treatment.
  • Gift cards and supplies have been provided to help make ends meet after housing emergencies have occurred.

We now have TWO ways that you can nominate a family in need. Bookmark the link below to use as the need arises. You can also find this link on the Otsegoknights.org webpage under the "District" tab.

Please do not hesitate to nominate a family in need, and KISA will do their best to help out!
