Principal Allen's Weekly Newsletter
March 30, 2020
Dear Spicewood Elementary Parents
Most of what you will see in my newsletter will be a repetition of what Round Rock ISD has already pushed out to parents via email, phone or text. If you are not receiving these important announcements from the District, please take a moment to download the Round Rock ISD mobile App.
I know this past week was difficult for many. While we are not certain of what the next few weeks may bring, please know that we are taking this journey with you. Every single Spicewood teacher is working tirelessly to find ways to support the social emotional and educational needs of their students. As we begin to navigate uncharted territory with the guidance and support of our District, we are hopeful to connect in more ways.
Please read below for important AND fun announcements.
Have a productive and safe week!
Mrs. Allen
Announcements
Spicewood Elementary Virtual Spirit Week
Although we are apart, we would like to hold a virtual spirit week (March 30th- April 3rd) for our staff and students! We would love to see your pictures! You can post fun pictures of each spirit day this week to Twitter and use @SpicewoodPYP so we can stay connected! :)
See flyer below for a description for each day! Monday should be easy for everyone! :)
At-Home Learning
This week parents may continue to utilize the Home Learning Hub to keep students actively engaged in grade level content.
Beginning April 6th, K & 1st grade teachers will begin publishing lessons and activities in SeeSaw.
2nd -5th grade teachers will publish lessons and activities in Google Classroom.
(If you are unfamiliar with how Google Classroom works, this Parent Tutorial will be helpful.)
Teachers will not provide numerical grades for completed work, but will provide authentic feed back for students.
During this time, teachers will be available to answer questions you may have via google hangout, phone call or email. They will be reaching out to you next week to inquire of your preference.
Need-Based Laptop Distribution Plan
Thank you for filling out the technology access survey. I would like to remind parents who responded that they have limited or no access to a device for their student(s) that distribution of devices will be on April 2-3 at Westwood High School, 12400 Mellow Meadow Dr, Austin, TX 78750, from 2-5PM.
To help verify student information, please bring a piece of paper with your student's name and student ID number (s######) to the distribution site and place it on your dashboard so it is visible from the windshield.
Meal Distribution
There have been a few changes to the process, however, this service will continue. The pick-up location closest to Spicewood Elementary is Anderson Mill Elementary, from 11:00-1:00 p.m.
We Love & Miss You!
Spicewood Staff have prepared a video message for our students (Thank you Ms. Jensen & Ms. Peoples for putting this together for us).
Parents, lease take a moment to watch our video with the ones who matter the most- our students! We love and miss you dearly! To Our Spicewood Family
