PTO Basket Raffle
Buffett PTO is holding a Basket Raffle at Conferences (2/26-2/27) in February and we would LOVE your help! Each basket will have a different theme for each grade level team! Until February 10th, we will be collecting items to create baskets that will be raffled off during conferences. Please see the list below for theme and item ideas to donate. If donating, please have your student turn items into their team teachers or to the front office, with the team identified.
5A - Art Basket (Markers, Coloring books, canvases, painting supplies, crayons, sketchbook, etc.)
5B - As Seen On TV (Total Pillow, Snuggie, Pillow Pad, Magic Pad, Dream Tent, Miracle Slippers, etc.)
6A - Game Night (Sorry, Monopoly, Clue, UNO, HeadBandz, Miscellaneous treats to eat)
6B - Snack Attack (Movie Theater candy, Popcorn, Chips, Pop, Chocolate, Juice, Chex Mix, etc.)
7A - Gift Card (Raising Cane’s, Subway, McDonald’s, Family Video, Xbox, PlayStation, Applebee’s, Target, Wal-Mart, etc.)
7B - Great Outdoors (Cooler, Tent, Sleeping Bags, S’Mores ingredients, Lantern, Thermos, Bug Spray, etc.)
8A - Money Tree (1s, 2s, 5s, 10s, 20s, 50s, Loose Change)
8B - Spring Break (Beach Towels, Sand Buckets/Shovels, Sunscreen, Beach Ball, Noodles, Sunglasses, etc.)

NEW Assessment Vocabulary School-Wide Focus
Buffett teachers and students are tackling essential assessment vocabulary in an effort to increase knowledge of words students encounter on standardized tests. These words are often words students have seen and heard of before but don't always understand what the word in asking them to do when they appear in questions on standardized tests.

Buffett To Host Family Advocacy Days
Buffett Middle has partnered with Nebraska Family Support Network to provide Family Advocacy Days. Students and families who need advocacy and assistance in the areas of absenteeism concern or any other areas of need can schedule a session with a NFSN staff member. These sessions will be held in the side conference rooms off our library once per quarter.
The next Family Advocacy Day will be held Tuesday, March 3rd. Please contact chelsea.krebs@ops.org for more information or to schedule a session.
CHI Health and Omaha Public Schools partner to honor teachers across the OPS district
CHI Health wants nominations of Omaha Public Schools teachers changing the lives of students. Each month, they’ll surprise a Top Teacher nominee with a treat basket for the teacher's lounge and a personal gift card. CHI will draw winners on the last Friday of the month. CHI Health will select winners from three different grade levels across the district.

Alice Buffett Outstanding Teacher Award
The Alice Buffett Outstanding Teacher Award recognizes the achievements of skilled and dedicated educators in the Omaha Public Schools (OPS). Given to 15 teachers annually, the Award has recognized and rewarded nearly 300 teachers over the past two decades. Any Omaha Public Schools teacher or counselor (Pre-K through 12), with a minimum of two years experience, is eligible for nomination.
Buffett Bugle Student Newspaper - First Semester Edition
Students in this course participate in all areas of the production process, including planning, interviewing, photographing, editing, and computer layout design.
