PBIS News Feb. 14, 2020
It’s February already?? Time is flying as we continue to “Rocket Boost Our Way into a Healthy New Year!” The groundhog can predict what he wants - we know the Vermont winter will be with us for awhile. All the more reason to focus on staying healthy as the temperatures stay low. Last week students practiced daily yoga to calm our minds and stretch our bodies. We learned to take a moment out of the busy day to relax and enjoy the moment. Classes used various websites to experience guided meditations and practice breathing exercises as well as yoga poses. Have your students show you their favorite pose!
This week brought us one of Fleming’s favorite traditions,“The Dance Off,” which celebrated its 10th year! Classes have been practicing for weeks, and it certainly showed! Each class presented their dance complete with special dance wear. Fifth grades took it up a notch by choreographing their own dances - watch out “So You Think You Can Dance!” Staff even got in to the act with their own presentation. Congratulations to Ms. Hopper’s class for winning the 4th grade crown and to Mr. Guilmette’s class for taking 5th grade honors. Many thanks to Ms. McClintock for organizing this beloved event.
We continue to work hard to earn enough eggs for our next all-school event: Students vs. Teachers Competitions! Students and staff will compete in fun challenges. Who will hula hoop the longest? Who can get through the maze the fastest? Who can win the cookie contest? The competition will be stiff!
As always, thank you for all you do to help our students Be Safe, Kind, Respectful and Responsible.

Box Top Competition Round 2
There's also the option of scanning your receipt to bring money into the school, but unfortunately, there is no way currently to have them select a classroom currently.
All you have to do is download the app, and select Fleming at your home school, and scan your receipt when you're done grocery shopping!
Traffic Safety at Afternoon Pick Up
Just a friendly reminder of State Law, there is no idling in your vehicles, in front of the school. This is for the health and safety of the students, staff and others waiting outside to pick up their children. If you’re going to be waiting for more than 5 minutes, please shut off your engine while you wait. Or park your car in a visitors parking space and come inside to pick up your student and escort them to your vehicle. On below zero days we will have a cup of hot cider waiting for drivers who come inside and park their cars.
Please no illegal parking on Prospect Street. It is extremely unsafe to have students running across driveway and street traffic to enter a vehicle.
No idling please and no parking in no parking posted places. PLease do not park in fire lanes that circle the school building exterior.
