HOOVER PTA
MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13TH IS THE NEXT PTA MEETING AND WE NEED YOU!
We would like to invite parents & teachers to attend our PTA meeting on September 13th, at 6:15 in the Media Center. 6:15-6:30 will be open networking/social time, for parents & faculty members to meet and greet, and then the meeting will start promptly at 6:30 PM. The PTA is a way for you to get involved with the school, share ideas & suggestions, and to get connected with fellow parents and Hoover faculty! We have an all new PTA Board this year and we have big ideas and plans to make this year at Hoover one of the best, but we can't do it alone! We hope to see you on September 13th! A note from Physical Education
Ms. Schultz and Mr. Hanson P.E. 2016-2017
Welcome back!
We are excited to be your child’s P.E. teachers this school year! ;-) Ms. Schultz’s classes will meet in the gym and Mr. Hanson’s classes meet in the cafeteria! Students need gym shoes here on every P.E. day if they wish to participate. If they are without shoes = You will receive a note/email from us.
If your child is unable to fully participate due to illness/injury, PLEASE send a written note with them. In case of serious illness, surgery, or injury, please ask your medical practitioner to supply that information to the school nurse and their PE teacher. If your child has a serious fall or bump in PE, we will call or email you at the end of the school day.
During our first weeks of class we’ll emphasize building relationships (getting to know each other); reviewing safety expectations; learning daily procedures; and, evaluating movements and skills.
Kindergarten students will learn about ’first time’ listening and moving safely with others in a large space. They will be introduced to many terms during the first few weeks:
Spatial awareness: (in front, behind, beside, under, over, between, circle, line, square, etc.)
Sport terms: throw (underhand and overhand); kick, toss, catch, bounce, strike, tag, balance, sportsmanship, etc.
Equipment: hula hoops; bean bags; balls (of many kinds); jump ropes; paddles; jump ropes; birdies; golf tubes; scooter boards; scarves; peacock feathers; etc.
Movement and exercises: gallop; skip; hop; jump; walk; jog; run; side slide; curl-up; V- sit; Flamingo stand; downward dog; plank; starfish; push-up; crab kick; etc.
All grades have specific District 77 benchmarks to meet. To get more information about our Physical Education curriculum, please visit District 77’s P.E. website:
