THE WEEKLY WITNESS
23 January 2015 | St. Mary Magdalen School | San Antonio, TX
OUR MISSION: EMPOWER STUDENTS AND OUR COMMUNITY TO WITNESS THE GOSPEL AND GROW IN EXCELLENCE THROUGH FAITH, ACADEMICS AND SERVICE.
NUESTRA MISION: EMPODERAR A LOS ALUMNOS Y A NUESTRA COMUNIDAD A SER TESTIGOS DEL EVANGELIO Y CRECER EN LA EXCELENCIA A TRAVÉS DE LA FÉ, LAS ACADÉMICAS Y EL SERVICIO.
RESILIENCE!
It also went on to state what characteristics resilient people have, "Resilient people...possess three characteristics: a staunch acceptance of reality; a deep belief, often buttressed by strongly held values, that life is meaningful; and an uncanny ability to improvise. You can bounce back from hardship with just one or two of these qualities, but you will only be truly resilient with all three."

Catholic Schools Week: It Starts This Sunday!
Sunday: Mass at 10:45 at SMM, where our choir will sing, our Student Council will lector and students will otherwise participate in the Mass. All students who attend in uniform earn a Free Dress Day for Friday. All are invited to head over to the school afterward for an informal, casual Open House, and our Book Fair!
Monday: CSW Vocations Day - Mass will be offered for more vocations to religious life.
Tuesday: CSW Student Service Day - Last year we did 40 hours of service to commemorate 40 years of CSW. This year, we will do 41 for 41. Students will be working hard, so they are excused from wearing a uniform and may wear their toughest cleaning gear (e.g., overalls, bandanas, work boots).
Wednesday: CSW Parent Appreciation Day - Mass will be offered in gratitude for our parents, and coffee and pastries will be offered in Jubilee Hall afterward.
Thursday: CSW Student Appreciation Day - Students will have free dress this day, and movies will be shown in the afternoon.
Friday: CSW Staff Appreciation Day - We recognize all the hard work that our staff does to advance our mission.

Our Mavs won three of four against Notre Dame at home, and split four games with St. Peter Prince of the Apostles on the road.
Next week, our Mavs take on St. Paul's on Wednesday on the road.
Go Mavs!
GOLF, ANYONE?!?
We will have a Golf Team this year for boys and girls in 5th - 8th grade! Please get a head start on this by emailing me, william.daily@gsnsa.org, if you think your child would be interested. I mistakenly wrote last week that it was also open to 4th grade, but it is just for 5th - 8th. My apologies.
