CATCHING THEM IN THE ACT
CONSERVATORY PREP SCHOOLS E-NEWSLETTER 2/16/2018
A week of many challenges and emotions
This week began with our students going to Glaser Farms in Miami where they were able to sample organic produce straight from the ground, ate a delicious lunch and made healthy cookies in the dehydrator. The next day we all learned the art of debate and how a tournament actually is organized and run by participating. Many of our students have asked for another session.
Wednesday was the day in the park where we relaxed playing sports, drawing nature, participated in a scavenger hunt and had a pot luck picnic.
The plan for Thursday was to have an amazing Comicon day, which were overshadowed by our grief related to the events in Parkland. Mrs. Hawkins (who has a psychology degree) allowed the students to voice their concerns and we answered their questions to the best of our ability. Later on we had a representative from the JCC discuss all of the security measures in place. We are fortunate to be in such a well protected environment. Students slowly embraced Comicon and we did see many smiles by the end of the day.
The entrepreneurship class also addressed the massacre in Parkland by discussing what it means to be a leader and how leadership can affect change.
