Message From Mr. Fay
Dear Parents,
I’d like to acquaint you with the procedures we will use for determining classroom assignments for the 2017-2018 school year. Our ultimate goal is to place each child in an environment that is comfortable and conducive to the growth of the individual student. Much consideration is given to appropriately match learning styles and personalities of students and teachers. Of equal importance is designing a classroom in which the children will positively influence each other.
A student’s current teacher may list particular needs related to the child’s learning style and the characteristics of the learning environment that would best meet the needs of the child. Their input is valuable and will be taken with great regard. The administrative team will collect needed information prior to making placement decisions. The placement process is highly reflective and focuses on the needs of all children.
Parents are invited to share views regarding their child’s needs, learning styles, and the characteristics of the teacher that would best meet the needs of their child. If a parent wishes to express their views regarding their child’s needs, this should be addressed in writing by writing a letter stating such things as: the most important priority you have for your child in school, strengths your child has, challenges your child may face, or other factors you would like considered (health issues, learning style, special needs, behavior, peer concerns, family history). Please do not write any specific teacher names in your letter.
Parents of students who are going to either the new school on Golden Gate or Heritage Elementary, please also feel free to send in your information. It will also be used to help place your students in a learning environment that would best meet the needs of the child.
Please return your form by Friday, March 17, 2017 in order for your input to be considered for placement. If you have any questions, please call or email me at damianfay@wsdr4.org.

News from the Nurse
Dear Parents/Guardians,
It is that dreadful time of year when the flu and other illnesses are floating around everywhere, including our school. If you would, please take a moment to share the importance of hand washing (especially before meals), not sharing food or drinks with their peers, and the importance of letting our bodies rest and heal, before returning to school.
Parents, please do not send your child to school if they have:
- a fever (any temperature above 100 degrees Fahrenheit)
- vomiting
- diarrhea
- a rash of unknown origin
- eye drainage
If your child is kept home, for any of these symptoms, including fever, they MUST remain at home, until they are symptom free for a minimum of 24 hours. I know this may come as an inconvenience for some, but it is very important to follow, in order to keep ALL of our students as healthy as possible!
Thank you so much for your help in making Peine Ridge a great place for your children to come!
Be Well,
Nurse Arje
PE NEWS
We are going to have an exciting month this February. Peine Ridge will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart this year. Students are encouraged to ask for donations through emails to friends and family. Collecting donations in person is still an option using the collection envelope.
It is awesome to be working closely with the American Heart Association to help prevent heart related illness in our area. We will be discussing heart health and the benefits of Jump Rope for Heart during class the week of Feb. 6-10th. We will be giving out packets to the students on Friday Feb. 3rd, but will discuss the packet in class the following week. This is also the week we will be Jumping rope. Starting Feb. 13th we will be welcoming the St. Louis Blues Street Team. They will be presenting some lessons to the students during our floor hockey unit. It is a great opportunity for our students to have.
