MYP Spotlight- Learner Profile- Lauren Jones
The MYP Learner Profile represents 10 attributes valued by IB World Schools. We believe these attributes, and others like them, can help individuals and groups become responsible members of local, national and global communities. The purpose of our focus on the Learner Profile at Millbrook High School is for all students to learn to respect themselves, others and the world around them.
Meet Lauren Jones
In My Own Words: "My personal project focused on my research question: Can different types of music lead to different psychological responses? I used information from surveys that I got responses to from people in all grades at our school, and I compared every answer to see if music really did make people act differently than others. I chose to do this project because I have always had a special interest in psychology and what aspects of life contribute to how we act differently in society, so I used my personal project as a way to explore and see how music affected people and their actions."
Inquirer and Self Management Skills
"I think I exemplify the inquiry attribute that my teacher saw in me, because I used my curiosity about psychology to help myself prepare and be able to research more about this topic, and I showed my love of the topic by putting in so much effort into all the part of my project."
"I believe I exhibited self-management skills during my project from organizing my website, planning ahead what I was going to do, and choosing a challenging project to complete. I also believe I exhibited research skills during my project from collecting, evaluating, organizing, and comparing and contrasting all the things that I found in my project, by using google forms, to help me answer my research question."

"My advice to people doing this project in the future, whether you do it virtually or in person, do not try to come up with a project topic that you really are not interested in, but instead do what makes you actually want to work on the project and make it look perfect. Do not stress to much that your project will not be good or better than others, just focus on making it to the best of your ability and what makes you feel impressed with your work, because this might seem like the hardest thing to do in high school, but if you really love your topic it won't be that overwhelming."
