READING

THIS WEEK'S HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS: away, come, down, no, will

Our first grader's ideas, creativity, and conventions are really improving during our daily journaling time. I will share student journals at conferences, but here is a sneak peak:

MATH

We are currently in MODULE A, LESSON 13. For in-depth details about each lesson this year, please reference our curriculum website here which has each day's lesson plans, examples, and videos. This week we read the book How Many Seeds In A Pumpkin by Margaret McNamara and then removed seeds from three different sized pumpkins. We will be counting our seeds by 2's, 5's and 10's and doing other math fun with our pumpkin seeds as supplemental activities this week!

Science

Key Words: habitat

In Science students are studying different habitats of the world. They brainstormed a list of animals, created the animal with play-doh and then journaled about the animal's natural habitat. Proud teacher moment as students were engaged, exchanging ideas with their peers, and putting their minds to work. It is fun to watch them gain independence!
