Field Trips

This week, we are going on 2 field trips. Both of these trips are walking field trips. Please make sure you have returned your child's permission slip.

On Monday, we will be walking to the Concord Library @8:45. We will be taking a tour, learning about their summer reading program, and listening to a few books read to us by their AWESOME librarians.

On Tuesday, we will be walking to the Farmer's Market at Rotary Square. We will be learning about local farms and healthy food choices. Students may bring up to $5 to spend at the farmers market. This is a great real world learning opportunity for our students to learn about budgeting, purchasing, and calculating change.

Early this morning, my grandfather passed away and I will be traveling to Upstate New York for his funeral. Because of this, the class will have a substitute for Wednesday-Friday and possibly part of Tuesday.

Please remind your child to be on their best behavior and to listen to the substitute.

End of Year Assessments

We are finishing our end of year reading assessments this week. Please encourage your child to work hard and do his/her best.

I will send home a report as soon as all testing is complete.

I have had several requests for summer work for your child. I will send out a newsletter soon specifically addressing summer vacation and things you can do to help your child keep learning throughout the summer, so that s/he are prepared for second grade.

Math homework will begin again this week. We are currently reviewing skills that we have not yet mastered. Some of the most difficult skills for our students include the following:

  • word problems
  • telling time
  • fractions

Spring Pictures

If you haven't already, send in payment or return your child's spring pictures.
