North Family News-Special Edition

This newsletter will be updated each Friday

::Update After Governor Whitmer's Announcement::

Hello North Families,

Our staff met today and discussed what our plans will be moving forward for the rest of the school year. We plan to organize Choice Boards for our students. This will essentially look like a lesson plan so that you know what they can/should be working on each day. We are giving our teachers a much needed break during their Spring Break and I hope your family can rest and relax, as well. We will be back at it on Monday, April 13th. That week we will plan, submit our plan to Berrien RESA and be prepared to start on April 20th.

Remember, The buildings may be closed, but our school year is not over!

Please feel free to reach out to me or your child's teacher with any questions.

A Note from Mrs. Kyncl

March 25, 2020

North Families,

On our 8th school day at home I am doing a lot of thinking and a lot of reflecting about our current situation. I understand that this is an unprecedented time in our country’s history. We are all doing our duty by staying in and social distancing ourselves from each other in order to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.

Teachers and students throughout the nation are trying to figure out how best to continue education while not physically together. I encourage everyone to work through their at-home learning assignments, find a great book to read, and stay connected to your child’s teacher. However, while working to stay connected, please know this...your mental health is the most important thing right now. We have provided lots of online resources for you and your children, but I am a big proponent of limiting screen time and finding a healthy balance. Using this in moderation is truly important for their mental health. Our goal is to provide you with as many resources as we can during this time and we know that you will do what best fits your family. Fresh air and time outside will do your heart and mind some good. It is ok to not have this all figured out, it is ok to not have a perfect routine. You will figure out what works best for your family. (I am still working that out!)

North Panthers, I can tell you that all of the adults here at North MISS YOU! Parents, we are here to support you in working through this difficult time. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We hope you are able to benefit from the fact that our district is working hard to provide breakfast and lunch to you during this time. A huge thank you to our food service and transportation team that are working each day to ensure that we can get meals to you. We feel nothing but #PantherPride for our community.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kyncl

Drawing for Books!

Mrs. Kyncl still has lots of books to give away! Please send pictures of your North School student engaged in learning/reading/creative play to Mrs. Kyncl or their teacher. You can even post them under a post on our Facebook page! Mrs. Kyncl plans to draw names and contact you so that your child can choose a book! We miss you!

As most of you know we have a preschool program that is housed at North Elementary. (Great Start Readiness Program) At this time our round-up for GSRP is being put on hold. We are working with Berrien RESA and other GSRP programs around the area to determine when the best time will be. There are a few steps in determining eligibility and that is hard to do with school/central office closed.

We will post updates here as they become available. Please share this information with anyone you know who may be interested. Thank you.

Can your North School student figure out where these pictures were taken???
