How to Get Drinking Water in the Wilderness
1) Find a Flowing Water Source
if available, find a river or creek, or any flowing water.
2) Filter the Water Through Cloth
use a bandana, or a tightly woven shirt to scoop water from the source. Position the water-filled cloth over the container that you are filling up.
3) Start a Fire
boiling the water will disinfect it, and lessen the chance of getting you sick.
4) Rolling Boil
wait for the water to become a rolling boil. This will take about five minutes, but you should leave it boiling for ten minutes.
pour the water into a desireable container to drink from.
shake the water up while in the cointainer to add oxygen back into the water.
