Together in Learning and Faith

November 18th - Our Lady of the Angels Catholic School

Remembrance Day

On Friday, November 10th our Grade 2 classes, under the guidance on Mrs. Oikonen and Ms. Cyca, led us in prayer as we remembered those who have served our country to bring peace to our world. Thank you for your bravery, your service, your sacrifice. May we all become peacekeepers.

Catholic Education Sunday

What a blessing to have so many families come together in prayer for Catholic Education. We are grateful to have this gift in the Province of Alberta. We would like to thank Father Anthony for presiding over mass and the many families and staff members from St. John XXIII & OLA Schools who served in the various ministries.

GrACE

A new alliance has been formed to tell the story of Catholic education in Alberta. The grassroots initiative seeks to present a united front to advocate for Catholic education’s future, at a time when there are growing threats against it.

The goal of GrACE – Grateful Advocates for Catholic Education – is to inform people about the history and issues facing Catholic education, and its uniqueness and benefits, through events and discussions in parishes, schools and communities throughout the province.

Power of Positivity to Unwinding our Minds

November's theme to help our whole health is: Unwinding our Minds. Mindfulness will teach us how to unwind our minds. Mindfulness means paying attention to things in our lives on purpose and without judgement. We will practice being mindful each morning this month.

Fort Schools Playgrounds - We need your help!

Please mark your calendars! Monday, November 26th at 7:00 pm @ OLA Catholic School is our next meeting. The grant is already written, and if approved, the Fort Schools could receive over a million dollars for playground spaces!

So, what do we need?

  • Quorum - enough members of our 4 school communities to vote on decisions
  • An executive (Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer) to formalize decisions about the funds and decisions
  • Volunteers to help at one large silent auction fundraising event (the one and only fundraising event for the playgrounds)
  • Community partner organizations to volunteer time and equipment when the time comes to install the playgrounds.

Please join us at the meeting on the 26th to find out more and help us make decisions!
