August 2023
LISD Families,
I hope your school year is off to a great start! It was such a pleasure to visit some of our campuses on the first day and see students return to school. We’ve put together a video to show you some of the fun first-day moments from Aug. 9, and I hope you’ll take a look.
The year is off to a busy start, and these past few days have been truly transformative for our district. After months of hard work from our One Vision Task Force, last night the LISD Board of Trustees unanimously called for a bond election to be included on the Nov. 7 ballot. In addition to a bond election, our Board also took action to call for a Voter Approved Tax Rate Ratification Election, or VATRE, to be on the ballot. Watch my video below for more details.
In the coming weeks we will be sharing more information on both of these topics so that you have a good understanding of each of these election items and how they impact you when election day comes this fall. Until then, I want to remind you to make sure you are registered to vote before the October 10 registration deadline. Let’s head to the polls this fall and make our voices heard!
I want to give a huge shoutout to our LISD Safety and Security Department, who has worked diligently to create LISD’s Guardian Program. They have gone above-and- beyond to seek out retired law enforcement, former emergency response personnel, honorably discharged veterans and security personnel to fill these roles.
We are already achieving great things this school year, and I am so excited to see the momentum continue in the coming months. Let’s make it a great year!
Dr. Lori Rapp
Superintendent of Schools

Bond + VATRE 2023
At a special-called board meeting on August 16, the Lewisville ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to include a Bond Election and a Voter Approval Tax Rate Ratification Election (VATRE) on the November 7 ballot. Registered voters residing within Lewisville ISD boundaries will be asked to consider a total of seven propositions that would generate additional funding to support educational programs and conduct maintenance, repairs and renovations across the district. If voters approve all seven propositions, the total tax rate will be 10.6 cents lower than last year’s tax rate.
Lewisville ISD residents will vote on the propositions during Early Voting, October 23 – November 3, and on Election Day, Tuesday, November 7.

Saturn App Update
The Saturn App has recently gained national attention as students have returned to school this year. The social app is used by students to upload and share their school schedules, which can then be viewed and shared with other individuals across the app who sign up for their school. This type of content sharing can make students vulnerable to online predators.
LISD Technology has blocked the app on district devices, but it is likely student’s are using their personal devices to access the app. For more information, including some local and national concerns, visit our website.
