Wade King Elementary

June 2021

A Note from the Principal

Hello Wade King Families,

It's hard to believe it is June! In some ways, this school year seems like it has gone on forever, with MANY first days of school as we started remotely and then gradually had grade levels start learning in person. And yet, in other ways, it doesn't seem like we could possibly be nearing the end of the year as we haven't all been together in person long enough.

As the school year comes to an end, our staff is planning ways for students to celebrate their accomplishments and friendships. This will include an end-of-year video that students will watch with their class on our last day of school. I will also send it out in an email so your family is able to watch it together if you choose. We have a few other things planned, and I want to acknowledge that it will be different because we are not able to invite families to join us. We're looking forward to the day we can welcome everyone back into our school again! We miss having you with us!

Finally, if you haven't already, I encourage you to respond to our online feedback form by noon on Friday. So far, we've had 49 families respond. This is a way for you to help our staff reflect on the things that are going well within our school community, and to help us prioritize areas to strengthen. If you have more than one child enrolled in one school, you may answer the questions multiple times or just once, depending on what you think will best represent your family’s experience for your children. It would be amazing to have feedback from all of our families!

As always, don't ever hesitate to connect with me if you have questions, concerns, ideas, or even great stories. I love hearing from you!

With Gratitude,

Stephanie Johnson, Principal

School Photos - Family Feedback Wanted

We changed photography companies this year for our annual individual photos and our class photos. Crystal Garcia took photos of our students and staff in our natural setting. Staff and students found the experience to be calm, well organized and professional, AND we want your feedback too. Please fill out this quick little survey about you experiences this year:

Do you know of NEW students coming to Wade King?

Registration for fall 2021 is open for kindergarten and all grades. Families with students entering any grade K-12 can register via this webpage. Registering now helps us hire staff, balance our classes, connect with families and be sure our schools are ready to welcome our students.

Registration is for students new to our district or who want to return after transferring to a school or program outside our district. You do not need to register current students; we automatically re-enroll them.

A special note about kindergarten: All children who will be 5 before September 1st, 2021 should register for kindergarten. We plan to start in-person learning at every school this fall with strong safety protocols in place. To find out more about attendance areas, registration and childhood immunization schedules, please visit

bellinghamschools.org/kindergarten or contact our elementary schools directly.

Feel free to let a friends or neighbors with future students know the registration window is open and ready for them!
