A Memo from Mrs. Doss
Welcome to Winter! A chill is in the air, and our building is bursting with cheer. We owe a huge "thank you" to Mrs. Snodgrass for decorating our school square for December. Classrooms are also creating ornaments for our school tree that are being added daily.
Another event coming up this month is our Santa Store the week of December 12th. GBE's Relay for Life Team is hosting our annual fundraiser with our Santa Store. It will be open during students' recess times allowing classes or students to come down and shop at that time.
PTO moved their December meeting to the 5th due to the Christmas Parade that took place this past Monday evening. We will begin at 5:30 in the Library. As part of our parent connection goal this year, I will be presenting our building results from the Fall Parent Survey and our Building Improvement Goals. I will also share out information regarding our initiative to build up our Parent Volunteers to assist during our RTI time on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 8:40 to 9:10. Along with this information, I will share out an opportunity we are planning for parents in February. This event will be similar to our Curriculum night at the beginning of the school year with varying sessions for parents to choose from that evening.
If you are not able to attend the PTO meeting to hear this information, I will also host a "Coffee with Doss" time on December 9th from 8 to 8:45 at the GBE School Square. I had intended on sending out the results from this survey last month. After reviewing the info, I feel it is best to present it in person to allow for collaborative conversation. I hope to hear and learn thoughts about ways to improve our school and parent partnership even more.
This month will go quickly and we do have several events on the calendar. I will be sure to update calendar included in the newsletter for you to have at home to refer to each week. If there are any changes we will send out Parent Alerts as needed.
Thank you again for all you do! May you have a Warm Winter and Happy Holiday!
Angie Doss

Inclement Weather Information for Moberly Public Schools
When considering school cancellations, the safety of all students in the district is the first consideration. School district personnel drive bus routes to check local conditions firsthand. District personnel then hold conversations with with the bus transportation company to gain their perspective. Again, safety is always our top priority. We also consider whether conditions will be changing throughout the day.
In the event of a school cancellation, notice will be provided as soon as a decision is made. Local radio and television stations will be notified and a notice will be posted on the school district’s web page, Facebook, and Twitter (@MoberlyDistrict). Notification will be sent via TextCaster Spartan Alerts as well.
Early Dismissal: An early dismissal will be used when conditions are expected to get worse throughout the day. This option will be used sparingly and avoided whenever possible. If early dismissal becomes necessary, the district will announce and post dismissal times. The standard early dismissal schedule will be used when possible.
Late Start: A late start option will also be used sparingly and in cases in which conditions are expected to improve fairly quickly in the morning. If late start is utilized, the district will announce the length of the delay. For example, if there will be a 2 hour late start, you would add 2 hours to the typical school start time. In the example of a 2 hour late start, if your child has a 7:30 bus stop time, the new bus stop time would be 9:30. The standard late start schedule will be used when possible.

Additional Parent and Family Information:
Please remember that Reading Counts quizzes are only to be taken at school to count into the total points earned by your student. This is just a piece of info we wanted to revisit and share with parents.
Students are utilizing our new Chorme book Cart!! It is very exciting-- the students will have Google logins - our reminders for parents to know and share with their children are listed below:
-be responsible in keeping login information private
-when communicating with others to be respectful
-We follow the same protocol as the Middle School and High School- because Google Drive can be accessed at home, work should only be completed at school unless otherwise communicated by their teacher that assignments can be worked on at home. At this time 5th grade is the current grade utilizing this piece of technology with their publishing of final drafts of their expository informational essays.
Other classrooms are accessing Study Island for Math practice outside of their weekly computer lab time
