From the Principal

Parents, We have finished our first two weeks of school. I want to thank you for trusting us with your student and for your patience. Our teachers are working tirelessly on lesson plans for both Face to Face and Virtual learners, and little by little both students and teachers are starting to get in a "rhythm".


So far, our protocols of social distance and masking are going well. We thank you for helping us by sending your students with their masks on. Please help us by checking for any symptoms every day and reporting those to us.


At the same time, please remember to send your students with masks and water bottles. Hydration is very important for students.


Please remember that this monthly newsletter is a working document. I will be updating information, especially our dates and events as we schedule new things during the month. Please check this newsletter periodically, and please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions about our events.

MAPS Screen Test

MAP Growth is the most trusted and innovative assessment for measuring achievement and growth in K–12 math, reading, language usage, and science. It provides teachers with accurate, and actionable evidence to help target instruction for each student or groups of students regardless of how far above or below they are from their grade level.


NWEA Maps is a required assessment for all students K-10. This assessment is critical to help us identify where students are academically. This year will be more important than ever for us to know where students are in relation to grade-level expectations.


Research shows that the COVID-19 interruption in learning may have significant effects on student performance. MAPS Growth data gives teachers information on students' strengths and weaknesses specific to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.


The face-to-face Gilbert students will take the math portion on the morning of Wednesday, September 2nd, and the reading on the morning of Thursday, September 3rd.
