Y6 Camp
We've been hearing great stories from the Y6 Camp in Rotorua, which is particularly special as the current group missed out on the Y5 Camp experience. It seems they are more than making up for it by engaging wholeheartedly in the fun activities and experiences at Tui Ridge!
This is a unique trip and something of a 'rite of passage' for the children, particularly as it marks the end of their Primary years. My thanks go to the Y6 Team and Associate Principal, Aone Laufili, for organising and overseeing the Camp.
New Appointments
With our 2023 staffing now finalised, next week we will be sending information about our teaching teams and class placements for 2023, bidding farewell to those staff who will be moving on, and welcoming a few new team members for next year.
In the meantime, I'm please to announce that Aone Laufili (who has been in the Acting Associate Principal role this year) was also successful in her application for the permanent role. The appointments committee were unanimous in the selection after a thorough appointment process, so I would like to congratulate her on winning the position on the basis of her outstanding leadership this year!
I'm also delighted to add that our current 'temporary' Property Manager, Kevin Longley, has agreed to take on the role permanently. Kevin has already proved himself to be an invaluable member of the team with a meticulous approach, and so we are extremely fortunate to have him joining us in this crucial role.
Junior Athletics
Thanks to all who were able to come along to support our budding athletes in Years 1 and 2 on Tuesday. Finally, we had some luck with the weather, and the children were bursting with energy, smiles and enthusiasm. There were certainly a few star athletes to keep our eye on for the future!
Final Week of Term
Teaching and learning continues here at MENPS into the final week, with a few special events left on the calendar.
We hope to see you at the PTA picnic if possible, with a reminder of our 1pm finish on the last day of term, Thursday, 15 December.

PTA roles in 2023
We want you to join our team! We need help filling a few roles - please email us at menpspta@gmail.com to nominate yourself for any of the following:
- Chairperson - We need a new parent/caregiver to bring their enthusiasm and energy to the role as we look ahead to a year of smaller events. Our amazing chairperson Aimee has stepped down and will be focusing on helping with sponsorship for PTA events in 2023.
The Chairperson is responsible for making sure that each meeting is planned effectively, conducted according to the constitution and that matters are dealt with in an orderly, efficient manner. The Chairperson makes the most of the committee members, building and leading the team.
- Secretary - we are reducing this role to be responsible for all correspondence the comes to the PTA gmail inbox. The secretary must have an excellent knowledge of Google tools, able to attend every PTA meeting, and have sufficient time to deal with a very busy inbox.
Many thanks to Jane for her time in the secretarial role alongside her immense fair duties. In 2023 Jane will be helping with the second hand uniform shop so we need a hero with a flair for admin to take on this role.
Pam will be picking up the duties of setting meeting agendas, setting up meeting requests and keeping the official records of meetings through the minutes.
In 2023 we will be running some new community/fundraising events - a fun list of fundraising ideas has been collated. If the above roles don't sound like a good fit for you - but you would like to help with a one off event instead, let us know.
PTA AGM - February 7
The first PTA meeting of the year will also be our AGM - Tuesday February 7th
AGM activities include: approving accounts, share a report summarising 2022, and fundraising goals are confirmed for 2023.
We will also officially vote in our new committee members.
Save the date!
Thanks again to the sponsors of the Food and Fun Fair 2022

Support our school by eating a delicious Roast at The Bridgman.
Seems too easy but $10 of every kids meal goes directly to our school funds. All you need to do is book your table and put MENPS into the ‘requests’ box and they will donate the profits of your kids meals back to the school.
Easy right?
Just book here - The Bridgman | Corner of Dominion & Valley Roads | Carefully curated food, drinks & cocktails.
The Bridgman are also generously running a food stall at the upcoming Food & Fun Fair.
