COUNSELORS CORNER
We have passed the halfway mark and are on the downhill side to the end of 1st quarter...how is your student doing in class? Remember, to earn credit and stay on track to graduate, students must pass the semester, and their quarter grades contribute to those all important semester grades. If your student is struggling, be sure to reach out to their teachers with questions and/or concerns, encourage them to attend tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and remind them to turn in their work so that they can be successful in their classes.
Groups are up and running! If your student could use help in coping with anger or grief, we still have room. For students who need help with anxiety, one group is already running, and we will be starting the next group soon...be sure to stop by the Counseling office (538) for a permission slip if you are interested in any of these groups.
As always, we are working hard to ensure students have as many opportunities as possible, and we have many things in the works. Some of our upcoming event are:
- September 16: Grand Canyon University Field Trip
- September 17: CAC visit in the College/Career center
- October 2: EVIT assembly for Sophomores
- October 16: PSAT (see Mrs. McDowell in the counseling office for details)
- October 16: SAT (see Mrs. McDowell in the counseling office for details)
- October 17: EVIT field trip for Sophomores
- October 21: Northern Arizona University field trip
- October 22: Family FAFSA night

AP TESTING
Taking the Advanced Placement exams is an important part of all AP courses. Combs High School desires that all students take AP exams for the AP classes that they are enrolled in. Scoring well on an AP exam can often earn students college credit for their high school class, saving a significant amount on tuition.
For the 2020 AP exams, students at Combs High School will be registering online. This registration will take a few minutes and can be completed from any computer with internet access.
