SC Children's Book Award Nominees
3rd-5th Grade
Purpose if the Book Award
The purpose of the South Carolina Book Awards is to encourage children to read quality, contemporary literature. Twenty books are chosen each year by the South Carolina Association of School Librarians (SCASL). Students are encouraged to read the nominee books throughout the year. Students who read five (5) or more may vote for their favorite in February. The results from Rice Media Center are added to the state-wide results. The winning book is announced in March.

2014-15 SC Children's Book Nominees
Book Award Challenge
Students in grades 3-5 are encouraged to participate in our school's SC Children's Book Award Challenge. This is a voluntary reading program that encourages kids to READ FOR THE FUN OF IT!!!! Mrs. Sprouse will book talk the nominees at the beginning of the challenge and explain the book review process.
Students participating in the challenge will select the nominee books they want to read from the current list of 20 books. After reading each one, they will complete a book review by clicking here. For every reading goal met, students will receive an invitation to a mini-celebration in the library. If they read and review five (5) or more and create a project representing their favorite nominee, students will be invited to the "Wii Read" event in February.
